Colin Farrell didn't hobble around with a prosthetic face for nothing. As a sign that even a broken clock is right every now and then, here are some of the best projects from Marvel, DC Studios and more dune The universe remained illusory Golden Globe nominations.
In a year where it felt like every day brought a new strange reality to contend with, the weirdos were in charge of TV and film. Both Farrell and Cristina Milioti receive nominations for their mesmerizing roles in Best Performance by a Male Actor and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, respectively The penguin. Without these two pushing their talents to unprecedented depths in their careers, this series without Batman wouldn't have been the best Batman project of all time (although… Gotham is criminally underestimated). Sofia Gigante (Milioti), who takes gaslighting to a murderously literal level, and Oz Cobb (Farrell), who is an overall piece of shit, could hand DC Studios its biggest win in years.
The hilariously uncanny Agatha all the time and vulgar breaking of the fourth wall Deadpool and Wolverine scored two rare Golden Globe nods for Marvel Studios as Kathryn Hahn received a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, and the Deadpool 2 Sequel is nominated Film and box office performance. Honestly, now that a movie can win a Golden Globe for making the most money, Marvel's profits should start piling up.
For the second time in a row, Denis Villeneuves dune Universe has produced nominations for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Original Score Dune: Part Two. Unfortunately, Villeneuve was unable to receive a second consecutive nomination for Best Director – Feature Film, having previously received a nomination for the Best Director – Feature Film category dunea fact that will surely anger Josh Brolin early retirement.
Comic book sociopaths and intergalactic dystopia earned the nerds a few nominations. We'll see if they can take home the gold when the 2025 Golden Globes take place on January 5 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
