Not to mention the original Half-Life, it's all been said. Valve's shooter went down in history as one of the most important games, like its sequel. Thus, the classic became a kind of father in many ways to all who came after him, and this is not the case with most games.
However, it should be acknowledged that there has recently been more work with Hal-Life, which is very exciting as the saga has been inactive for many years as Valve has dedicated his time and services to other projects. All of this will change later this month, when the series continues with a special original game Half-Life: Alyx. However, before that, and after five years of development, the desire for further growth of the weed, Black Mesa, was no longer available at first, which means it has been completed again in 1.0 form.
But … What is Black Mesa? It's a game that started out as a project made by fans in favor of the series. In 2012 it was created mod called Black Mesa: Source, which was trying to duplicate the original game but using a modern version of the graphics engine, Source Source. However, these types of projects come from all three of you, so you may wonder why this one is different. Yes, because instead of suspending the illegal activity, Valve gave the green light to the game for sale and, as a result, embarked on an eight-year development process, five of which continued with the initial discovery, and that it had thousands of hours of volunteer work leading to the final official and clear introduction to Steam.
Certainly the game covers all the chapters of the original compilation and the most important revisions. Not to mention the fact that the group, which was operating under the name of Crowbar Collective, also touched on those parts of the time that were not particularly popular, the end of the game, also known as part of Xen. So, we can say that the remake changed and improved the original. The fact is that the group did not have access to the original files, but in practice it is very similar to being known as remáster. In short, it is a clear but incomplete version of the Half-Life miracle.
Without further ado, the question to ask about everyone, should you buy it? Yes, it's a difficult question to answer, but our first answer to it will be a resounding "YES". Why? Yes, because Black Mesa, though not exceeding the number of figures many dreamers have (or the AAA dismantling in the style of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy VII: Remake), is a completely updated, fluid and satisfying version of Hal-Life that can be played. Even after all these years, it's still a well-crafted game, full of good sequences, great storytelling, and lots of action.
It is clear that it still has many technical flaws, even in the last genre. We will meet and answer mystical physics here and there or experience recurring breaks where we will read "Loading …" five seconds before we continue. But apart from all this the game works well from start to finish and is easy to access in this world and knowledge A fantastic night for Gordon Freeman and his tour with foreign invasion offices. We are sure that it would be very difficult to get into the story now if we were starting the original all these years.
If you finally decide to take on Black Mesa as a way to revive the experience, then the work of Crowbar Collective will go far enough and good purchase of 17 euros. However, you shouldn't expect to "remember" like that, because if you have this idea in mind you can compare it to titles like MediEvil, Final Fantasy VII: Remake, Crash Bandicoot: Nsane Trilogy or Resident Evil 2 and this will not leave Black Mesa in a great place. Yes, technologically it is a luxury, but we actually act as a reminder. Or it could be, we are talking about the return of an artist, and this should be considered.
That said, if you buy Black Mesa in the end, you can expect an amazing campaign each full of mystery, with amazing music, great atmosphere and vibrant shooting locations. You may realize that the game is age, but you will also quickly notice the impact it has had on all other modern shooter games.
Black Mesa is made a lot of love and is the product of Half-Life unconditional love, you will notice it as you play. Fortunately, it's as if it's a straightforward, straightforward version of a classic. However, it is a fact that we cannot completely ignore minor technical flaws and, as we have said, if you try to wait for the implementation, you may not be disappointed that Crowbar Collective could not be further in 2020.
