The Witcher: Monster Slayera mobile augmented reality adaptation of The Witcher role-playing game franchise Pokemon Gowill be closed in about six months, CD project announced on Tuesday. The game ends on June 30, 2023.

The developers at Spokko, CD Projekt’s studio developing the game, thanked players for their time playing the free-to-play game, adding that the global community has “over 100 million monsters defeated”.

“We’re proud that we were able to create a location-based AR experience that captures what it’s like to be a witcher in real life,” the studio added.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer will be available on Google Play Store and iOS App Store until January 31st. “Starting February 1st, the game will go through some major changes leading up to the end of the game,” Spokko’s team said.

Corresponding a FAQ, which means no new content (monsters, armor, or quests) and players can no longer make in-app purchases with real money. The in-game marketplace will remain active to allow players to spend their in-game currency through June 30th.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer was launched on July 21, 2021 for iOS and Android devices, although it was first revealed with a trailer in August 2020. The news of the shutdown comes two days after CD Projekt Red announced this support Gwent: The Witcher card game would go under at the end of 2023.
