So far, only one game published by Activision Blizzard has found its way into Xbox’s Game Pass subscription service, almost a year after Microsoft closed its deal to buy the giant call of Duty Publisher. However, a new report claims that more Activision games will (slowly) come to the service in the near future.
In January 2023, Xbox announced its plans Activision Blizzard King for a total of 69 billion dollars, the largest takeover of the video game industry in history. It took almost a year of court proceedings and hearings around the world before Microsoft could officially use the publisher October 13, 2023Now that the deal is complete, Xbox owns a lot of franchises and games, including Call of Duty, Warcraft, And Candy Crush. But so far, eight months after the deal was signed, only one Activision game has been released –Diablo IV—has made its way to Game Pass. However, it seems that more are finally on the way.
According to a report by Windows Central on the 3rd of July Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is scheduled to be released on Game Pass in August. The N. Sane Trilogy is a remake of the first three originals Crash Bandicoot Games and was released in 2017 to great acclaim and sales.
It is also rumored, but not confirmed by the outlet, that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 and that Spyro Reignited Trilogy are also planned for Game Pass after crashpossibly later this summer.
When will call of Duty Games end up on Game Pass?
I am not a fan of the self-cannibalization of the video game industry –which often leads to less competition and more layoffs—at least it would be nice to get some free games. So it’s nice to see that finally, after almost a year, more Activision titles than Diablo IV will appear on Game Pass.
The big question I have is: When will Xbox bring all the Duty to call Add games to Game Pass? The majority of the franchise is already playable on Xbox Series X/S, assuming you own the games, so it’s just a matter of Microsoft flipping the switch and making these games free for subscribers. I expect that the closer we get to the launch of BlackOps 6 on October 25th – a game that appears on the first day in Game Pass—we will soon have some Cash on delivery come to the service.
For now, however, it seems Xbox is taking its time bringing the Activision back catalog to Game Pass, which is a big departure from the way it handled Bethesda’s game library after it Stand out Publisher in 2021.
