In the world of Crossing the Animals: New Horizons, there is no such thing as Earth Day. This is a video game full of beautiful anthropomorphic citizens celebrating Creation Day instead. Like everything else in this game, Animal Crossing it has been able to turn a beautiful real-world experience (e.g. a natural breakdown) into a playful event. That's part of what I love about this game: It makes sense, and there's nothing wrong with it here (though sometimes I wish it were). Well, it turns out that this recollection of Earth, nature, and all things wild is not much different in a game than in the beginning of life. And that's another reminder to me about how much less real Earth Day has reduced.
Both Earth Day and Creation Day do little to improve the environment. Instead, they gave it to us – again the shell capitalist pigs– Take a chance to put your back on your back and think, "Yes, I did the right thing with the world today." That has no effect on the existing paradise Animal Crossing, but I can't say the same about our world.
We should be helping to improve the plant every day. Those principles are in Earther, which is why we don't make Earth Day. However, should every day be Earth Day when the planet and its inhabitants suffer at this level? Or the capitalist holding over Tom Nook, which is your debt to him Animal Crossing, you know this.
Unfortunately, just as Mr. Nook likes speak about his passion for nature on Creation Day, as well as many companies and companies in Earth Day. Throughout the year, however, these same players can support an ethical, exploitative act – such as felling trees or capturing wild animals, as is the case with the game. In the real world, the stats are very high. The same players who are literally exacerbating the climate crisis with oil and gas exploration are the ones who prioritize Earth Day as saying something to them.
Take the American Petroleum Institute, for example, which helped climate change denial in U.S. politics. On Earth Day, this trade group was present to destroy everything the day long about how natural gas will save us all from the climate crisis though science tells us otherwise. To my knowledge, Earth Day simply gives vacant companies and organizations the opportunity to pretend they care about the world even if they are actually being killed.
Natural Day does not feel so different and extreme.
The festivities begin on April 23 instead of April 22 inside Animal Crossing. The day begins with the beautiful little Isabelle, the yellow dog in charge of the island's review, informing you that the activities of Creation Day will continue until May 4. "Well, let's get into the spirit of good friendliness, everyone!" he said. What does all of this entail? Oh, you know, the usual task of saving a planet: planting some shrubs, building some obstacles, putting a fence in your garden.
This is exactly what involves the game's Creation Day. You get one job a day called “Activities for the Time!” Every time you complete one, you get Nook Miles, which is a cash item in that game. This genre looks at what's happening in the real world: You do something natural to reward yourself. In the real world, we don't get paid for itunless you are an expert in the good (and bad) public relations that create climate denial campaigns for petrol companies. Instead, we reward ourselves with feelings of apathy and withdrawal. We told ourselves to recycle that bottle or plant that tree, so our work was done. We think we have done enough, that these little works can save the world.
That might be the case on the digital island I was created for Animal Crossing, but sure as hell is not something on Planet Earth. Real climate activists know this. That is why many are no longer focused on the trivial tasks that others can develop during their World Day campaigns. Instead, they are focused on joint planning, education, funding for Congress, and changing the political system to stop those same federating companies from taking their pockets and making decisions.
All that work takes more than a day's work. Unfortunately, Earth Day failed to properly communicate the appropriate action to solve the climate problem. The event started off as a powerful one, promoting environmental protections such as the Clean Water Act and the Clean Air Act. Since then, the holiday has already turned to contaminated marketing campaigns. And none of this is going to change anything.
For me Animal Crossing the island, which I have called time, did not expect Natural Day to start creating a stable society for me of my citizens. My other first purchase was solar panels and windmills. When an electric pump or oil barrel is sold in my shop, do I buy it? No.
At present, I am building a renewable energy center filled with benches and waterfalls so that timeless residents know what we need to do if we want to improve the environment. And that ultimately uses the world for pure energy that everyone can enjoy equally. Planting trees and shrubs won't save a damn thing in the real world, and that won't do enough real.
