In an act of festive generosity (and clever marketing), Netflix is giving everyone a new way to compete with their friends. The streamer will release its mobile game on December 17th Squid Game: Unleashed so that everyone can play for free, regardless of whether they have a Netflix subscription or not.
At The Game AwardsNetflix announced that the game based on the hit drama series' deadly competitions will not be available behind a paywall for a limited time. Squid Game: Unleashed is a multiplayer battle royale with challenges drawn from both the acclaimed series and “new games inspired by classic childhood activities,” according to the Game website. The site also states that “each round is a dark trip into the past,” so I'm guessing events like a musical chairs variant where the last person standing is shot, or a freeze tag, are included where the person is literally frozen and their limbs break off are not ruled out.
Players can register in advance Get an exclusive skin now that will allow you to compete for the ultimate prize. It looks like there are a few differences between the game and the series. In images released by Netflix of the game, players appear to be able to wield objects such as bats and balls. Additionally, the infamous Glass Bridge Challenge now appears to allow all players to walk across the bridge at the same time, rather than individually as in the series. Plus, it doesn't seem like you could easily get past a giant piggy bank hanging on a chain at the end of the bridge.
Alain Tascan, President of Games at Netflix, talked about what players can expect from the game The Game Awards. Squid Game: Unleashed is all about playing with (or against) your friends in the series’ iconic games like Glass Bridge and Red Light Green Light, so we’re inviting everyone into the chaos this holiday season.”
The second season of Squid game Premiere takes place on December 26th. You can catch up on the series by trying out the first season and then trying to beat the game yourself. Just don't upset your family with yours Squid game Supremacy.
