The Russian invasion of Ukraine was a terrible tragedy for millions of people. but as we have seen, life goes on between the bombings. And that includes creating and releasing new video games.
The experiences of the team at Frogwares – a studio best known for its Sherlock Holmes Games – were one of many ways international readers were able to learn about the war and its impact on the people of Ukraine. Last year we saw Members of the team join the armed forcesseen that others could move to safer places and that despite everything, Frogwares has somehow been able to continue to develop the games that fans around the world have come to know them for.
They are able to release one in March 2022a unbelievable Achievement, but this was also a game that had mostly been developed before the invasion. Last week they released a second one, called Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened Onea modern remake of a game they first released in 2008.
It seems OK, no doubt helped by the fact that the original was a pretty good adventure game from the start. Aside from the graphical upgrades, however, the 2023 version has another difference from the original: it includes a splash screen at the start of the game that provides important context for Those of the awakened Development and release:
