With the death bell tolling for 2021, Nintendo and a number of independent publishers have decided to give us some final indie game sales before sending this garbage year into that sweet night. All in all, it’s a pretty excellent goodbye made up of many of the best indie games in the past few years. If you’re wondering what’s worth taking with you, here are some recommendations that I think you would enjoy the most of you.
Subnautica + Subnautica: Below zero
The iconic marine exploration survival simulation and its new, similarly popular sequel are on sale for a pleasant 40 percent, so the two-game bundle costs just $ 36. For my part, I will finally pick up on these games as I am completely unimpressed by the depths of the ocean.
Crystals
We really liked our own Mike Fahey Crystals, an indie JRPG about playing with time. For those of you who are fans of the turn-based fighting genre, you can get it at a gratifying 50 percent discount.
Risk of rain 2
Risk of rain 2 is one of the best roguelikes of the past decade and is currently only priced at $ 6. It’s also getting a new expansion in the first half of 2022, so now is a good time to jump in.
OlliOlli: Change your posture
the OlliOlli Games are excellent on their own, but for $ 3, they’re an absolute no-brainer. Two great side scrolling skateboarding games for less than a cup of coffee? Yeah i’m down
Where the water tastes like wine
Where the water tastes like wine is a narrative experience about America – and an incredibly cool one at that. While it can be a little sparse at times, $ 4 is a steal to experience some of the best lyrics in any video game.
Ashen
Ashen is a great soul-like game with a simple, Switch-friendly art style that makes it a perfect game for tense battles on the go. It’s currently on sale at half price.
Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition
Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition is the other video game that many would call “the best writing in all video games”. It also happens to be about America and the brutality of modern capitalism. Buy it (currently $ 15) and Where the water tastes like wine getting mad at the world and hoping for the ability to connect human beings despite a system that doesn’t care about you.
Night in the forest
The other, other video game that could reasonably be called “some of the best fonts in all video games,” which is also about the slow collapse of American capitalism. 10 dollars. If you buy all three of these games and play them through in the same week, you will become a communist. Sorry, I don’t make the rules (but I live by them).
Empty bastards
Empty bastards is a roguelike science fiction first person shooter created by Game Pass from some of the creators of. got known System shock 2 and BioShock. If you don’t have a PC or Xbox to play with, try here! It’s half as well.
Kill the tower
Kill the tower is an outstanding roguelike deck builder who needs no introduction. Currently it’s $ 7 and 50 cents. If you haven’t played it already, just buy the damn thing so you know why everyone else is raving about it.
These are my favorite games from the current round of sales – but there are dozen more worth checking out! If you want to see the full range of sales, you have to go to the Nintendo website to really see everything, because hardly any of it appears on the front page of the eShop. Oops!
