Nintendos the new switch model has most of its improvements, like a bigger and better screen, on the device itself. But the dock has also been upgraded with a new look and more features, and Nintendo says you can buy it separately if you just want that rather than a whole new system.
A Nintendo spokesperson told

It also has rounded corners that look a little nicer and can also help make screens less scratched if you’ve ever had to suffer from this particular problem.
The docks will only be available direct from Nintendo direct which means you can’t get any from GameStop or Amazon or whatever. And they will also be interchangeablewhich means you can use an old dock on a new switch and vice versa.
If you just come to us, the new Switch – officially known as the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) – is pretty much unchanged internally, apart from doubling its internal storage capacity from 32GB to 64GB, and it is displayed and outputted to TVs at the same resolutions. Most of the improvements come from the outside, with a newer and larger 7-inch screen, an increase over the 6.2-inch on the original Switch.
