If you are someone who likes to play Final Fantasy XIV, but those who hate the idea of NFTs will be happy to know that the two seem unlikely to mix. According to the game’s producer and director, Naoki Yoshida, NFTs aren’t coming to the popular MMO anytime soon. However, Yoshida stated that he is still interested in the concept of NFTs and believes they could work in future games developed with them.
As discovered by fanbytesYesterday Yoshida appeared in a Final Fantasy XIV “Letter from the Producer” stream. During the stream
During the stream, Yoshida made it clear that NFTs would not be added FF14.
“After the how Final Fantasy 14 was developed, we do not intend to add any NFT elements to the game at this time,” explained Yoshida. “If anyone is concerned or concerned about this, I can state unequivocally at this point that we have no intention of including this in the game.”
Later in the stream, he doubled down on that promise, saying, “No NFTs in it FF14so don’t worry.” However, I’m still a bit worried, but not about that FF14.
Earlier this year, Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda published a letter praising NFTs and even hoped that the fraudulent technology that was pretending to be a future would become a “big trend in gaming of the future”. In that New Year’s letter, CEO Matsuda presented empty buzzwords, vague hints, and no-ideas about Square Enix’s potential plans involving the Metaverse, NFTs, and blockchain technology. It was… not great!
Yoshida is aware of this letter and commented on it during the stream, stating that following the release of the CEO’s letter, Square Enix would take a “ a lot of reactions” about NFTs and how many western players seemed to be “against” them. He further explained the situation on stream, hinting that people seem nervous about NFTs.
However, don’t assume that Yoshida is opposed to the idea of incorporating NFTs into video games. I mean that would be nice! But no. Instead, Yoshida expressed his curiosity about NFTs and games, “completely unrelated FF14“.
“I think the vehicle itself could potentially be something that makes the concept of a video game a little bit more interesting,” explained Yoshida. “Nevertheless, we would need a specific game design that does justice to the concept of NFTs.”
A reminder that NFTs are a huge scam and more people and businesses in the gambling industry should be obliged to say so publicly and frequently. However, as you might expect Most companies seem more than ready begin selling in-game NFTs to players; andother blockchain-powered bullshit to make quick money before the inevitable bubble bursts.
This pop can’t come soon enough!
