While we haven’t seen this year yet call of Duty game, it sounds like Activision will introduce something new to the shooter series when it launches this fall: cosmetic carryovers between the last game and the next.
In a post on call of Duty Official representative of the series Twitter accountthe company teased that Modern Warfare IIThe operators (character skins), weapons, and bundles will carry over to the 2023 game when it releases later this year. The post itself was a poll asking, “Should #MII Operators, weapons, and bundles carry over call of Duty 2023″, and the only two answers were “Yes” and “Yes, when will it be revealed?”, referring to the fact that the next game hasn’t actually been revealed publicly yet. Since none of these answers are negative, it seems like the operator, weapons, and bundles carry over to the new game.
Carryover of cosmetics is a problem for call of Duty, since Activision releases a new game every year without much – if any – connectivity between games. In many live service games, you spend money and unlock items that you can use for several years, but with call of Duty When players switch to a new game every year, much of that time and money investment is left behind. It sounds like Activision is looking to fix this issue through manufacturing call of Duty more like live service games, albeit still switching between new entries.
This is good news though call of Duty Front, the military shooter series was a major bone of contention Microsoft’s effort to acquire Activision Blizzard since this process began in early 2022. Now that the deal is all but done, Microsoft and Sony have sealed it signed an agreement to ensure that the series will appear on PlayStation platforms in the future.
