What will 2020 bring to the world of video games? Here Kotaku Splitscreen, we have the answers. Well … we have some guesses. Same thing, right?
In this week's episode of the show, we talk about some games we play (Control! Resident Evil 2! Author 3!) and other movies we've watched ((Parasite! Knives! Little Women!) and re-visits our forecast for 2019 to see what we have (and wrong) about this year in video games.

Kirk Hamilton's prediction:
- Leather 2 the PS5 will be announced.
- Video games will arrive sometime during the presidential debate.
- Nintendo will announce a new switch via Bluetooth, 4K support, and 30fps storage capacity in Korok Forest e Wild Breathing.
- Microsoft will announce Xcloud for switch.
- We will learn about the campaign for foreign influence aimed at the US 2020 election that will somehow include video games on Twitch or YouTube.
- American sports studio will vote to consolidate.
- EA will announce a Great Outcome trilogy memory.
- Nintendo will announce and launch the Game Boy classic.
- Two on Facebook, Amazon or Netflix will announce a cloud gaming service to compete with Google Stadia / Xcloud / PSNow.
- Half Life: Episode Alyx will end with tea Half Half 3, a continuation of the episode 2 episode 2 episode 2.
Jason Schreier's guess:
- Nintendo will release switchch Pro and only third-party ports.
- Rockstar will announce Grand Theft Auto 6.
- Google will increase Stadia's model / pricing significantly.
- The PS5 will outperform the Xbox Series X in its first month.
- A candidate will participate in a particular format Fortnite event.
- Apple will release the game on PC or commanders.
- Amazon will introduce some sort of streaming service and built-in Twitch store and affiliate.
- U.S.-based game development studio
- The Sons will skip E3 as well, as there will be one major publisher to attend E3 in 2019.
- Disney will buy / invest big money in a video game company.
Maddy Myers' guess:
- The Nintendo switchch Online registration service will start installing new / modern games and will compete with the Xbox Game Pass.
- We'll see Metrop Prime 4 Gameplay this year. Not just a cool trailer trailer! Gameplay !!
- We will learn that you play as Zelda inside Breath of Wildlife 2, even if only for a short period of time (e.g. single equipment, co-op, etc.)
- Ellie's girl – who is in the E3 trailer – will die Finally for Us Part 2.
- Nintendo will announce the Princess Peach game.
- A mobile game will emerge that will be more controversial with GOTY lists due to their influence (e.g. Pokemon Online Pokemon
, but it's actually good).- Twitter will try to follow in Facebook's footsteps and make gaming progress, e.g. introducing streaming or gaming / VR studio service.
- We will see "Stadia is beautiful now" articles by 2020.
- Epic Store fury will cease to be a factor, along with some changes to the Epic Store (e.g. major UI overviews, user reviews, wish lists, etc.)
- The fact that the PS5 or Xbox Series X will make it an awkward fuck-up and will trigger console wars by making it clear that one or the other console is somehow superior. This debate will dominate the headlines for weeks.
