Our long national nightmare is over. Square Enix has updated Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and, among other things, fixed a buggy and impossible-to-complete side quest at the end of the game that prevented some players from obtaining the Platinum trophy.
In February, Rebirth– the second part of the huge series from Square Enix FF7 Remake trilogy– released exclusively on PS5. It’s a good (but probably crowded) modern recreation of part of the original Final Fantasy VII

On April 11thSquare Enix tweeted that update 1.030 is now available Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. And it specifically noted that the annoying side quest bug had been fixed, adding: “Thank you for your patience and support!”
While this update is greatly appreciated, it is not a complete surprise. We knew Square Enix had plans to fix the broken quest since they confirmed it on April 4th. Still, it’s nice that I can finally complete this damn side quest and move on with my life.
Here is the full patch list for Update 1.030:
- Fixed the bug in the “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” side quest from Chapter 12 that prevented progression even after completing the G-Bike mini-game requirements
—Please note that you will need to complete the G-Bike mini-game again even if you have already completed the requirements
– Your quest progress will not be reset if you have already completed it- Fixed some issues that occurred when completing Phenomenon Intel in a specific order.
- Fixed a rare bug that prevented a new challenge from unlocking in Battle Simulator
- Fixed a bug that caused romance levels to not increase under certain circumstances, even if you made the appropriate choice
- Fixed a bug that prevented players from receiving the Cactuar Crusher trophy despite meeting the requirements
- Fixed an issue where loading save data could cause errors, crashes, and progress failures under certain circumstances
- The function for loading saved data FF7 remake to use the most recently loaded save data if your save data has been loaded multiple times has been updated
- Fixed some display/visual errors
