IO Interactive plans to allow PC gamers from Hitman 3 the “seamless” import of Hitman and Hitman 2 hit a catch in the new game.
Hitman 2 remains unavailable in the Epic Game Store Hitman 3 is offered exclusively for the year following its launch on January 20th. This game is only available on Steam. “Due to various circumstances beyond our control” says IOIt is impossible for PC owners of both games to link them and determine their locations Hitman 3 as intended.
But IO Interactive offered some sort of workaround for the next two weeks Hitman 3
- First the Hitman 1 GOTY Access Pass will be available for free to anyone who owns it Hitman 3 in the Epic Games Store. This pass will be made available to those who purchase (or pre-order) it for the first 10 days after launch. Hitman 3.
- Next owner of Hitman Get a free Hitman 1 GOTY Access Pass on the Epic Games Store, including those who picked up the game for free when it was available in August when buying Hitman 3.
- Then it is Hitman 2 Standard and Gold access passes are offered at an 80 percent discount for the following 14 days Hitman 3‘s launch on the Epic Games Store, “and continues to receive regular discounts.” IO Interactive has yet to set the prices for the access passes that will be delivered Hitman and Hitman 2Content in the third game.
In August, when IO announced the timed exclusivity on the Epic Games Store for Hitman 3
This is because players have to import their levels from Hitman 1 in Hitman 2 first. On PlayStation 4 (and 5) and Xbox One (and Series X) Hitman 3 automatically detects whether the user already owns a previous game on this platform and allows them to download their levels from Hitman 3
As for continuing their progress from Hitman and Hitman 2This is accomplished through an IO Interactive website and is not affected by Hitman 2EGS unavailability.
On ResetEra, angry customers and fans said they would either ask for refunds and / or wait until the year Hitman 3 starts on Steam.
“I was just considering whether to bite the bullet and buy it from Epic or not.” wrote one. “I think I’ll actually wait for it to come out on Steam next year. It’s a shame because it looked really nice, but I’m not buying back everything I already own. “
Polygon reached out to an IO representative to learn more about how much this will cost and for additional comments on the Snafu. The way it is now, players who already own Hitman and Hitman 2 Steam still has to be paid for Hitman 2Levels to unlock everything in Hitman 3 in the Epic Games Store.
