Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital is considering bringing the legendary racing series to PC, the creator revealed.
When asked by GT Planet whether he would consider a PC version Gran Turismo 7Series creator and Polyphony boss Kazunori Yamauchi said, “Yeah, I think so.”
However, he warned that bringing a series known for its technical prowess to an open platform like PC would not be easy. “Gran Tur ismo is a very finely tuned title,” said Yamauchi. “There aren’t many platforms that could natively run the game in 4K/60, so we’re making that possible by narrowing the platform. It’s not a very easy subject, but of course we’re looking at it and considering it.”
However, as GT Planet points out, Gran Turismo 7 is already scalable to some extent, running on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
There could well be pressure from Sony on Yamauchi to implement this. No Gran Turismo game has previously been playable on anything other than PlayStation hardware, but in recent years Sony Interactive Entertainment has brought a number of its biggest exclusives to PC with some success: Horizon, God of War, Spider-Man, and Uncharted all made the jump.
Gran Turismo 7 was the subject of controversy upon its release as players were reacting to a stingy, slow economy that seemed to be pushing them into exorbitantly expensive in-game purchases. Yamauchi eventually relented and patched the game to make it more generous, but the debate marred the release of an otherwise excellent racing game.
It took until last week – November 24th – for Polyphony to be patched Gran Turismo 7 with the much-requested opportunity to boost your income by selling cars first promised in March. That 1.26 update This included the exciting real-world race track, Road Atlanta, never before seen in a Gran Turismo game.
if Gran Turismo 7 Comes to PC, it will find an avid racing game community on the platform – and go head-to-head with Microsoft’s rival Forza Motorsportreturning to both Xbox and PC in Spring 2023 after a five-and-a-half-year hiatus.
