The Ho-oh bird is famous for its retreat Pokémon Go a temporary attack, along with Lugia.
The bird- and fire-type aircraft will enter the attack only on December 20 at 4 p.m. ET until December 24 at 4 p.m. ET
Ho-oh's flight and fire typing give it double the weakness of moving rock type. We recommend any of the counters below:
- Tiranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Regirock with Rock Throw and Stone Edge
Ho-oh is also weak when traveling with electricity- and water-type, so you can use other strong attackers like Kyogre, Swampert, Zapdos and Electivire.

Ho-oh is not a scam, as it falls behind Moltres, Blaziken, and Chandelure. If you want to have the best Ho-oh, you'll want Hidden Power paired with Fire Blast, Brave bird, or Solar Beam. The issue is that the hidden power typing depends on your Ho-ohs IVs, and you'll want the type to be compatible with the Charge Move option. If your Ho-oh has a wrong type of hidden power, its usefulness will decrease slightly.
