After waiting five years and two months and with surprisingly little fanfare Pokemon Go Developer Niantic has finally brought Kecleon to the mobile catch-’em-all game. Kecleon is available to intervene Pokemon walk following the conclusion of Chespin Community Day on Saturday, which takes place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.
Players in countries like New Zealand and Australia, where Chespin Community Day has already taken place, reported that they were able to catch Kecleon after the event was over. Kecleon seems to be rare in something Pokemon Goonly appears at some PokéStops.
The arrival of Kecleon is a big deal for him Pokemon Go Completionists who have not previously been able to complete their Hoenn Pokédex. Kecleon was an unusual holdout, even by Pokemon Go
Pokemon Go Players have been bothering Niantic with Kecleon, also known as the color-changing Pokémon, for years. The developer has typically responded to questions about Kecleon’s absence by saying that he’s been waiting for the right timing and implementation to bring the Normal-type Pokemon walk. Just last year, Live Game Director Michael Steranka narrated United States today, “In the main series games, Kecleon has a very unique ability. There are certain Pokemon that we want to make sure we’re doing right. Before we introduce Kecleon to the world, we want to make sure that the way we present it is something special.”
So how did Niantic Kecleon debut in Pokemon Go… special?
How to catch Kecleon in Pokemon Go
After Chespin Community Day, players will find Kecleon at PokéStops seemingly r andomly. Players must tap a PokéStop to see if Kecleon is there; The Pokemon will be barely visible, but its distinctive jagged red marking is unmistakable. If players try to spin a PokéStop disc with a Kecleon on it, they will receive the message “There is an invisible obstacle in your way. It prevents you from collecting items…” When you tap the Kecleon, it “bounces” off the PokéStop disc and appears on the game’s world map. Kecleon can then be caught like anyone else Pokemon Go
Now that we can capture Kecleon (and know how to do it), the other obvious question is… what took so long? That’s something Niantic has yet to comment on, but Kecleon’s long-awaited appearance in Pokemon Go comes at a seemingly strange time. Kecleon skipped the Hoenn Throwback Challenge in 2020 and the Hoenn Celebration Event in 2021, and some players expected the Pokemon to show up Pokemon Go Tour Hoenn next month in Las Vegas. But ticket holders and those attending this event may gain access to another coveted catch, Shiny Kecleon, whose attendance is yet to be confirmed Pokemon Go.
