It has been many years since we first saw the wonderful cartoonist Arnold Schwarzennegger confronting a terrifying alien on the big screen, and the reality is that things have changed a lot since then. The good guy from Arnold didn't settle in the cinema world and wanted to start politics, became the Governor of California and didn't even put himself in the shoes of Dutch, the most famous character in the Predator series. However, the franchise continued without him being like a movie or video game featuring one of the most well-known aliens in the art, the Alien xenomorph. Predator is not dutante in consoles, but is in the asymmetric PvP subgenre, which is now more successful than ever. Dead by daylight and Friday the 13th: The game (not technically or visually stunning) has the most loyal fans barking whenever there is an update or new accessories.
In fact, the last of the two games was designed by IllFonic. Although the studio already has an asymmetric horror video game in its curriculum (both of which include the support provided by Evolve), it wasn't the most successful of these, since Friday the 13th: The game had many problems with the license, lacked content and the gameplay was balanced in the middle. To make matters worse, he left the job suddenly, leaving it at Black tower Studios. Of course you are wondering why we are talking about previous topics and the answer is simple: many of the immediate problems we just mentioned are still in the final research project.
Predator: Hunting Ground starts in a fun place. Depending on which direction you want to go, you can come in shadows, be invisible, and even hunt people (both controlled by artificial intelligence and player-managed soldiers online). You can get your deer in full view and then stab or shoot them and rip their heads off the body with the same ease you would get for your sister Barbie. If on the other hand, all you have to do is try to survive, pull the trigger, cover yourself with what your character thinks is muddy, complete silence and, eventually, get on a helicopter and leave the train.
It's a simple premise and all games follow the same system on both sides. If you are in charge of a Fireteam soldier, you will be given three objectives to achieve; Those terms will determine whether or not you can get out alive. You have to get rid of them before the transplant, but it won't be an easy task, because you will find soldiers under artificial intelligence who will try to ruin your plans, usually in areas where your objectives are. Plus, there's also the Predator hanging in the shade, in the trees or maybe, behind you (surprise!). It is easy to feel: his powerful footsteps make the world shake; sometimes you will scream in the trees or you will be able to see him with a large laser beam. But don't be fooled: The Predator is fast and deadly.
As a Predator, your only goal will be to wipe out people, no matter what the cost. You will have to separate the players (which you have to kill to win) from the characters controlled by artificial intelligence, or use a tactic to allow Fireteam to take care of these soldiers and attack them when they disperse to complete their objectives. It's very fun … But it is only at the beginning, as it is quickly doubled. "The hunt will begin soon", here's how the title of one of Predator's first games could be translated; In this case, maybe the hunt should end, because Preda tor: Hunting Ground doesn't offer much in terms of longevity.
The main problem is that all games are the same or similarly small. It is true that the objectives are different and different between the three different maps (although not necessarily the conditions are very different), but after a few hours, it gives you the feeling of playing the same game over and over again.
However, if you like plugins and customization options, Predator: Hunting Ground has a lot to offer and you won't have to spend a penny to find all the skins, upgrades, weapons and suits. You earn money every time you enter a game or collect it within maps. Sometimes you even find loot boxes. Having said that, most of the weapons and skills are unlocked by reaching certain levels, which will not cost much, as you reach the top very quickly.
Of course, the "looteo" system has a few flaws: it shows things we've already explored as new and sometimes, there are newly discovered articles that don't seem to be unlocked. Technical problems do not end here, because the game system also has bugs, builds are disabled, games are frozen, cross game options are wrong, there are connectivity problems due to the P2P system, endless waiting times … Phew! The most frustrating insect found that our Predator couldn't climb trees or shoot with a laser, so we ended up running like headless chickens. It does not mean that the soldiers killed us immediately, which did the worst, and sat alone on the faces of our bodies. Has the roll cut us so much? No, but still we looked good. We also hit a nuisance when Predator turned into a gray polygons (something that hasn't been solved by the last nail, by the way) and the problem was that we couldn't invite PS4 players to the Cross-gaming option promised to us. However, it seems PC crossplay works best when in Quick Play Mode, since almost all of us had at least PS symbols next to the player's name in the waiting room.
Predator: Hunting Ground is fun and, in a movie based, it's one of the best examples we've ever touched. Jumping down like a scary traveler with a hot idea and high-tech weapons is a blast, and co-operation is fun. In spite of it all, the technical difficulties and repetitive nature of the game upset the experience. With a full team of players and the option to enter a private waiting room, Hunting Grounds was a hoot; But without the experience of a complete team, its charm will eventually disappear quickly without the addition of bonus content to it, since its current availability is not enough.
