Red Dead Online‘S last update, Blood money, has added some new missions and small features to the game. It also seems to have broken something. Now when players log in they will come across dead random horses or living ones running around forever causing havoc.
On July 13th, Rockstar released the latest update for Red Dead Online
Lots of these horses appeared to be owned by players as they had nice saddles and accessories like lamps. But her owner was nowhere to be found. Sometimes these horses just show up dead in random locations. Other times you see them standing around waiting forever and watching. The weirdest and funniest are the random ones Horses running across the map, seemingly without a goal. These horses even crashed into players and threw them into the air.
I personally met all three of these random player horses while playing RDO in the last week or so. In fact, I saw her so often that I wondered if something was wrong and looked up and saw that I wasn’t alone and that, yes, something was wrong.
As mentioned earlier, these horses seem to be owned by players and sometimes people are Find clones of your own horses
While these horses have caused some minor falls and accidental injuries, there is at least one confirmed case of an accidental, runaway player horse rescuing someone. Even stranger that this person was dressed like Fat Albert. (Video games are strange things!)
Where do these runaway and cloned horses come from? Well, some theories have been passed around on Reddit and Twitter, many of which point to a bug with stables in the game. When you enter the stable you can sometimes see your horse running out of the stable during the cutscene. Others think that when players disconnect, some of these horses will be left behind, which is still more common than people think. Red Dead Online.
Kotaku contacted Rockstar about these random horses.
This is nowhere near the first time Rockstar has updated one of its games and broken something in the process. In 2017, Rockstar updated GTA Online and all the supermarket employees have disappeared. 2020, Rockstar Update Red Dead Online and Players reported that their horses were much dumber afterwards.
As with the previous mistakes, it is very likely that these random, fierce player horses will be patched away soon. In fact, by the time you read this it may already be fixed. And while this will one day be fixed, it’s a reminder of how complicated and difficult it is to develop and maintain a great online video game.
