Destiny 2: Lightfall is just around the corner. If you don’t feel like pausing before the new expansion or trying to get back in determination In the run-up to the new release, here are some things you can do to stay busy and get ready for February 28th.
incidence of light promises some big changes and a whole new power called Strand, which will give players access to a variety of glowing green telekinetic powers, including small spider bombs. In addition to seven new exotic gear items unveiled so far, the expansion will also pit players squarely against an evil army trying to smother the solar system in darkness. I’m excited. But before that, there are still a few things to do destiny 2‘s current extension.
End The Witch Queen
It never hurts to catch up on the last expansion before diving into the new one, and The Witch Queen offers the best story campaign destiny 2‘s had in years. If you’ve already completed it, congratulations! If not, set aside a few hours and enjoy the eight-mission journey into the throne world of the Hive God Savathûn, the Deceiver’s Heart. Better yet, give yourself a few nights and tackle it on Legendary difficulty, which will make the witty Bootyman feel a little more like a classic glorioleespecially when playing alone or with just one friend.
The final cutscenes are also key to understanding the grand showdown between light and dark that Bungie is preparing and will continue to build on incidence of light. The Witch Queen is still $40 and different from 2020 Beyond the Light not free with PS Plus this month or through Game Pass. Still, the campaign earns its keep and doesn’t force you to take care of the rest destiny 2‘s loot grind if you don’t want to.

Find out about the seasonal drama alerts
With The Witch Queen completely you have a good grip on what The Witness is about and the threat posed by his world-destroying disciples. But there is still much more to do destiny 2‘s universe as only great evils and cosmic stakes. Seasons 16 through 19 offered a ton of new character development and key reveals that helped explain motivations and build intrigue between the main boss fights. The main things to know are that Cabal Empress Caiatl is now on your team, her daddy works for the Evil Manifestation, Fallen Kell Mithrax made a potion to revive Osiris, and Warmind Rasputin is now directly with the player can speak and grow philosophically.
But instead of telling you everything that has happened in the last year destiny 2, I’ll tell you the best way to catch up on your own time. Do you like reading? The Destiny Lore subreddit has some incredible one-pagers that literally go through every tiny plot beat with links to them corresponding moments in the game if you want to see them playing in real time: Season of the Risen, Season of the Haunted, Season of Plunder, Season of the Seraph. Do you prefer watching videos? In addition to Destiny Lore Vault contains footage of every story ever shared in the game, resident maester My name is Byf has created hundreds of hours of YouTube videos detailing everything. For now I recommend this video about the motivation of Calusthis over Osiris and Saint-14 are reunitedand this one about the complex story behind it Clovis Bray’s trap and Rasputin’s new identity.
Clean out your vault
There’s nothing worse than a fresh start destiny 2 Expand and pause mid-campaign to figure out what you’re about to scrap to make room for all that new loot you’re swimming in. safe cleaning is of course easier said than done. I’ve depreciated all my old guns over the past few years and I still have over 450 pieces of gear in mine. But if you’re not already using that Destiny Item Manager is an amazing tool for streamlining the Vault management process.
A good rule of thumb is to get rid of anything you haven’t used in over a year. If you have clear playstyle preferences, don’t be stuck with a bunch of weapons from a class you hate either. Never find yourself sniping? Get rid of them except for one or two. hates swords? Then why do you have 10? Cupid is even easier to clear out. With transmog and big improvements in mod management coming next season, there’s no reason to hold on to extra parts. Focus on getting armor with high stats.
Collect some seasonal weapons
Still, it’s good to walk into each new expansion with some tried-and-true weapons that will take you through the new content, regardless of how lucky you are with new loot. With seasonal content phasing out at the end of each year, your chances of getting some of the current season’s best weapons won’t last much longer. I would recommend hunting down one or two of the following weapons and perk rolls depending on your personal preference:
- CALUS mini tool (Solar Submachine Gun): Relentless, Feeding Frenzy, Incandescent Bulb
- bump in the night (Stasis Rocket Launcher): Chill Clip, Chain Reaction, Stats for All
- tarnished courage (Arc Scout Rifle): Dragonfly, Explosive Payload, Voltshot
- robber law (Arc Sidearm): Threat Detector, Perpetual Motion, Surrounded
- IKELOS_SMG_v1.0.3 (Arc Submachine Gun): Frenzy, Tap the Trigger, Perpetual Motion
- inequality (Stasis Pulse Rifle): Tombstone, Outlaw, Frenzy
Mini Tool is the biggest pain of these because you have to find it first in a chest in the Derelict Leviathan before you can start target farming at the retailer. The rest are all unlocked through the standard seasonal activities. Disparity and Tarnished Mettle are both great long-range weapons for dealing with newbies incidence of light content alone. Additionally, Bungie is currently letting players unlock one red-rimmed weapon per day, making it easier than ever to unlock the crafting patterns for all of those weapons. The latest IKELOS SMG will never let you down if you decide to set your sights on them.
Farm a bunch of legendary shards
Bungie recently announced an end to Blue Engrams once players hit the soft power cap. In advance incidence of lighthowever, the studio also replaces those blue engrams with purple, resulting in one huge stroke of luck in Legendary Shards. Since channeling engrams is currently the game’s main method of grinding for certain loot pieces, and this process requires a lot of legendary shards, many players have their reserves scrambled.
As a result, there’s never been a better time to throw in a few Nightfall Strikes and pocket a few dozen extra Shards. You will no doubt come in handy along the way incidence of lightespecially when you’re not playing destiny 2 so much and have not yet accumulated large stocks. Blind Well and Dares of Eternity are also great places to farm shards efficiently.
Stock up on some weekly bounties
This one is for try-hards but if you plan on playing for a few hours destiny 2 between now and when incidence of light is live, it’s easy enough to do. Long story short, any bounties you complete now will remain in your inventory until you turn them in. Do this afterwards incidence of light comes out gives you a huge head start on XP right from the start. This allows you to unlock seasonal Artifact Mods earlier and progress towards Season Pass rewards faster.
Weekly rewards offer the largest amount of XP at 12,000 and are less overwhelming than filling your quest log screen with tons of smaller ones. Public Unrest and Full Spectrum in the Cosmodrome are easy, Brave Europa Expedition is another straightforward weekly bounty. And if you’re already making dares for extra shards, you might as well knock out a few bounties on Xur in the treasury.
Visit the Space Station (and grab Revision Zero)
The Season of the Seraph Exotic questline is a bit complicated, but it’s definitely worth it. In addition to a satisfying journey to an orbiting space station, you’ll also snag one of the best new Exotic Pulse Rifles and its four different Exotic Catalysts. Once you have completed all of Seraph’s weekly story missions, you will unlock the Exotic Mission: Operation: Seraph’s Shield. It’s a bit complicated but offers some fun solo puzzle solutions. If you don’t want to find out for yourself, you can Use this guide.
Once you get the Revision Zero version outlined in red, you can disassemble it and then head to Mars to craft your own version. After that, you can embark on the four-part mission Should You Choose To Accept It to collect each of the Exotic Catalysts by solving more puzzles and recovering dead Exos. Here’s a guide to where they are. Eventually when you find them 50 security dronesyou can unlock a Special room in the Seraph station. It’s worth the trip and is a great ending destiny 2is fifth year.
