Christmas may be over, but the Epic Games Store hasn’t finished giving away free gifts. His newest free game is indeed three free games all in one. You can go there until January 6th and grab the 2013 one Tomb Raider Reboot, the continuation of 2016 Rise of the Tomb Raider and its follow-up for 2019, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, for free. That’s a lot of grave robbers!
This is not a complete surprise. Like children peeking under the Christmas tree while their parents sleep A few days ago dataminer and leaker had already revealed that people would get something for free Tomb Raider Games on December 30th. And they were right! The survival trilogy recently surfaced as today’s free giveaway in the Epic Games Store
If you haven’t played any of the newer games Tomb Raider Games, you should definitely try to play these during your free vacation time in 2021. The first game in the trilogy, which is confusingly simply called Tomb Raider, rocking the franchise formula and focusing more on surviving and exploring an open world. There’s a crafting system as well, and as you progress through the game’s action film storyline, you’ll unlock upgrades to your equipment and skills.
Probably the best game of the trilogy is the sequel from 2016, Rise of the Tomb Raider. Built on the solid foundation of RPG upgrades, open-world exploration, and satisfying third-person combat found in that first reboot, this follow-up simply turns the dial to 11. Bigger levels, more graves to raid , more puzzles, more upgrades, more weapons, etc., etc. It’s just a bigger and better version of the formula that the first reboot established, with some slick looking graphics. I also enjoyed the narrative more than either the first game or the third game in the trilogy, with Lara acting more like a desperate heroine trying to save the day while battling her own personal problems and demons.

We finally have 2019 Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This third game was developed by Eidos Montreal, as opposed to the last two games produced by Crystal Dynamics. But while a new studio was responsible for this entry, it more or less followed the same formula established in the last two games. I do not think so’a bad game but it feels a bit clunky and old ccompared to the first two parts of the Reboot trilogy.
So when do we expect the next entry in the long run Tomb Raider Franchise to be released? Not so fast. Crystal Dynamics is a busy studio working on the Avengers game these days and Microsoft also helps with his Perfect darkness start anew. All we know is this Crystal Dynamics is actually working on a new entry in the series this is planned to “unify” the timelines of the original ’90s games and the more recent reboots. But the studio hasn’t given a timeframe for the next one yet Tomb Raider Title will see the light of day. Until then, you can replay or try out the Reboot trilogy for free on the PC via the Epic giveaway.
