Siphon filters in the new PS Plus service have trophies

Starting next month, Sony will launch its somewhat confusing tier-based PlayStation Plus service. For those who pay for the top tier, PS Plus Premium, you get access to some older PS1 games. And at least at siphon filter, You can now earn trophies while playing this 22 year old classic.

I probably don’t have to tell you that, but siphon filter didn’t have any PlayStation trophies when it launched on the original PlayStation console in 1999. But now, when it comes out next month as part of the big PS Plus relaunch, it will include a list of new trophies and even a platinum award for getting all the other trophies. Game. It was tweeted on Thursday that siphon filter now supports trophies on PS4 and PS5.

As stressed by igamesnewsit is possible siphon filter uses the same software emulation technology that Sony patented in March last year. In that patent, Sony shared details of software that could monitor an old game and reward players with trophies when certain triggers were activated. This patent seems to imply that more legacy PS1 games will have trophy support when the new PS Plus comes out next month, but that hasn’t been confirmed by Sony yet.

The game is a third-person shooter starring Gabe Logan, a US secret agent who must fight terrorists to prevent a deadly virus from being used as a bioweapon. It was a weird but interesting game that featured some really nice looking walking animations, a ridiculously powerful taser that could burn people from all over the map, and cool music. It would spawn an entire franchise across multiple PlayStation consoles over the next decade.
