Sniper Elite Analysis: Resistance

Rebellion's Sniper Elite series has earned a large number of loyal followers over the years, and it seems that the series has found something that fans want. It is very likely that Sniper Elite: Resistance will be successful as a predecessor, as it is very similar to the previous games and does not revolutionize the series at all. However, I'm not sure I need sniper elite to do a great exercise of “we're going to shake things up” because it works very well as is. That said, everything seems a bit tight.

Sniper Elite: Resistance

Sniper Elite: Resistance is the final installment of the series and this time the protagonist is British sniper Harry Hawker. Followers of the series will recognize him for his participation as a secondary protagonist in previous titles, and here he stands behind enemy lines in occupied France in the spring of 1944. Together with the proud French resistance, he must face the Germans and discover a new and dangerous “silver bullet” that is supposedly so revolutionary that the entire D-Day operation is in danger.

Sniper Elite: Resistance contains a dozen very wide and open missions. All are very well designed and you will go through all sorts of locations, from a French bombed city, a grand hotel to a Nazi headquarters, to huge Nazi castles, laboratories deep in underground bunkers and a French basement that produces much more than it produces much more than came.

The game follows the same open-ended design as Sniper Elite 5 and like Hitman, you can complete the missions in many different ways. You can let your sniper rifle do the talking for you, but you can also choose to be stealthy and have your silenced weapon be your primary weapon. You can even get into a personal plan, quietly approach the enemy and kill him with your knife. Or maybe a combination of the three: it all depends on the player and as always it works pretty well.

The missions evolve along the way, with various sub-objectives occurring as you gather intelligence information or listen to German soldiers talking to each other. In addition to the general objective of a particular mission, you can, for example, choose a high-profile member of the SS, then go to the map and search for various classified documents, resistance files or personal letters from some of the characters about what the mission is about. If you want to find everything and are playing on one of the highest difficulties, one of the missions can take more than three hours.

The most entertaining one is still sitting on top of the tower of a church, under the strong tañido of church bells, driving down one enemy after another. Your sniper rifle is as effective as ever and depending on the difficulty level you are playing on, you have to take into account the wind, time and how your target is moving), and you also have to take into account that your bullet will lose altitude on the way to the target .

Sniper Elite: Resistance

As always, a successful death of several hundred meters is rewarded with family and the brutal death chamber. Here you follow your projectile through the air in slow motion and as it impacts the enemy, you see how it destroys femurs, a spine or the skull and how internal organs are torn apart depending on where you are hit. And now you'll be wondering if you can still shoot the Nazis in the testicles. And yes, you can. So you have it there.

The campaign can be played alone or elbow-to-elbow with a friend in cooperative. In addition to the campaign, there are several multiplayer modes, such as the team match (two teams of up to eight players), a squad match (four teams of up to four players) and returns the excellent game mode No Cross. No Cross is a type of team deathmatch in which teams are separated by a piece of anyone who can cross. Attention is therefore only focused on killing yourself from a distance without worrying about being invaded by the enemies that approach.

They can also invade other players' campaigns like the dreaded Hunter-Sniper and make it difficult for the other player to complete the campaign mission. Survival is a Horde style and the new Propaganda Challenge mode, unlocked by searching for Propaganda posters during the campaign, lets you play as members of the Resistance in a series of challenges. In general, the multiplayer part of Sniper Elite: Resistance is very pleasant and entertaining in small parts, but there are no major improvements over the previous games. For me, Sniper Elite is a game for a single player or a cooperative, but it's good that the relatively numerous multiplayer modes are there for those who want to spend time.

Because Sniper Elite: Resistance closely follows the model of previous games, some of those games' vulnerabilities are still present in the Resistance. This is more evident in relation to artificial intelligence. The enemy's ability to see the player can range from non-existent to almost superhuman, and the latter is particularly frustrating. Sometimes it seems that the enemy is able to see through the walls and have an eagle vision of the wilderness, as they can see you from the strangest angles and very long distances. In other cases, they can step on the body of one of their classmates without realizing it, so AI is very uneven and affects gameplay. Especially in the stealth games, where a large part of the experience is tied to how enemies react and how you can manipulate them, AI is very important and the sniper elite has not yet completely succeeded with this part.

The visual effects of Sniper Elite: Resistance are, again, exactly as you would expect if you look at the previous games. Technically the graphics are simple as the lights, shadows and surfaces are not up to 2025 games, but the visual simplicity is offset with a really good design and very well, as stated at first, it is well designed and great. However, there are some issues with surfaces not always loading fast enough, sometimes you can cross walls, the PNJs go haywire, you can get stuck in your environment, and enemies can fall through the world when you kill them. However, this should be resolved in a patch closer to launch, as the Rebellion promised us.

How do I summarize this game? Sniper Elite: Resistance is very similar to the previous games, and that's not necessarily a problem. I am sure that the sensitive fiber of the already numerous and loyal followers that the series Sniper Elite will touch, and I am one of them. The Resistance has been touched up here and there, but I hope that Rebellion will not fulfill the series soon as I remember. That said, it works, but it's a bit tight after so many years of the same formula.

Sniper Elite: Resistance

Sniper Elite: Resistance is not a game for everyone, but for fans of the series. You need a good dose of patience and a desire to sit for a few minutes and examine your surroundings through the binoculars, spot enemies and plan a battle plan. There are many ways to be a real sniper by adjusting the difficulty, especially in the highest difficulty. Delicacy and creativity are required to survive, and it's great that you have the opportunity to be so creative when it comes to completing the various missions.

However, the artificial intelligence of enemies remains an issue that can ruin the experience in some places. Even so, there's still something strangely satisfying about succeeding at your target hundreds of meters away, and the large and slightly grotesque death chamber makes it even more enjoyable. Sniper Elite: Resistance is exactly what you expect as a sniper elite game, and it's comforting, good and familiar fare for those familiar with the series.
