Someone has to draw the sky in video games

The stuff that exists outside of the bits you actually play in is usually taken for granted, but the skybox—that part of a level that not only depicts the sky, but also background environments that the player cannot access– can also be one of the nicest parts of a video game.

So let’s take a look at the work of a skybox artist tonight. Marcos Shih has worked on everything from Apex legends to Marvel movies and offers skybox art and matte paintings for backgrounds.
