In the past 24 hours, a number of people – including a Square Enix employee – have been arrested in Japan for insider trading dragon quest game announcement. Legendary Sega designer Yuji Naka is now reportedly on board among them.
The scandal revolves around a studio called Aiming, announced in 2020 as the developer of a new one dragon quest game, called tact. Last night, 38-year-old Square Enix employee Taisuke Sazaki was suspected for the first timewho worked on it final fantasy and Kingdom Hearts Games, knew about the deal before it was publicly announced, and along with a friend bought a ton of stock in Aiming, hoping to cash in if the stock price (presumably) rose.

Although best known for his work with Sega, Naka was most recently teaming up with Square Enix for the misfortune balan wonderland. He left the company in April 2021; These allegations date back to 2020, when he was still working with the publisher.
He was arrested by the Tokyo District Procuratorate, who are continuing their investigation. Naka reportedly bought 10,000 shares worth 2.8 million yen, or around $20,000 (Sazaki, meanwhile, is accused of buying 26.4 million yen, or around $188,000). Authorities have yet to disclose whether any of the three men arrested so far still owned those shares or whether they had been sold for a profit prior to the investigation.
