Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2is the latest 4.0 update was not well received by the players. The new patch added a difficulty option that some players find too frustrating, while other parts of the game were tweaked to make co-op missions more difficult, leading to backlash from the community. Now the developers are promising more changes as players complain that the game isn’t as fun as before.
Space Marine 2 launched last month to receive rave reviews from critics and gamers. The sci-fi third-person shooter quickly became one of the biggest games of 2024 and is only set to grow as developer Saber Interactive has promised future updates that will add new features, cosmetic options, modes, missions, weapons and more will be added. However, players are worried about the future Space Marine 2
On October 17th Space Marine 2Patch 4.0 is available on all platforms. A new co-op mission has been added with a big new alien monster to kill, but there have also been changes that players aren’t happy with. These include limiting how often you can collect ammo from crates, making it harder to defend against enemy attacks with certain melee weapons, significantly weakening a powerful weapon used in operations against bosses, and reducing armor effectiveness on Reckless difficulty.
Ruthless was previously the highest difficulty level in the game. However, with 4.0 a new difficulty level, Deadly, was added, which is intended to be the most difficult option. However, some players think it might be too incredibly difficult. One reason for this is a new feature of this difficulty that requires you to stay close to your co-op friends in order to recover their armor. This is difficult enough with a coordinated team, but with random generators it is almost impossible. It also forces all classes to stick together and makes it harder to be a sniper or a tank.
Players and developers react to the 4.0 update
The community is not happy with these changes. On Reddit, Players posted about how these changes now make Operations mode feel annoying even on lower difficulties. Others stated that they didn’t mind Saber Interactive introducing a harder difficulty setting, but making the rest of the game more frustrating was a step backwards for the co-op shooter.
Many have commented that these changes remind them of that Helldivers 2 and its infamous nerfs This angered players and led to outrage in the community.
On Steam, over 900 new negative reviews have arrived Space Marine 2. It’s not enough to change the game’s overall rating, but it does seem to suggest that players might start bombarding the game with reviews.
Fortunately, The developers have already responded to the backlash and negative feedback. On October 18th, Saber Interactive and publisher Focus posted a message on Twitter confirming that they were aware of any backlash and had plans to release another patch with new balance changes “next week.”
We’ve read your feedback on the latest patch carefully Space Marine 2 and we are actively working on another, including balancing fixes. It should be out next week. Thank you again for your support.
For now, this seems to have reassured the community as players wait to see what changes Saber’s next patch brings Space Marine 2.
And to be fair to the developer, it has to be said that the patch notes for this new update suggested that the developers found it “too easy” to use and that these changes should fix that. But they also added a message saying they wouldn’t know how much harder they’ve made co-op until the update is live and in players’ hands, adding: “We’ll continue to make these changes monitor and continue to adjust.” Operating mode balance. This is not the final change.” Well, they were right about that last part.
