I’ve been a grumpy old man when it comes to all things Dragon Ball for far too long. As a typical Toonami kid who doesn’t read manga and watches mainstream anime, I drew a line in the sand a few episodes in Dragon Ball Super when I first gave him a chance. I had no plans to continue watching because the first few episodes didn’t feel like the action anime I grew up with. Likewise before Spark! Zero
I haven’t played any Dragon Ball video games since
Budokai Tenkaichi 3 because none of the titles released in between were what I saw as the quintessential fighting game IP.
Luckily, time is a flat circle in a culture steeped in nostalgia, and today I have a new one Tenkaichi
game in my life. But with maturity and hindsight, I wonder how much good I missed out on by staying too loyal to the anime and fighting games of my childhood. Will this growth and clarity compel me to finally play?
Kakorot
or
FighterZ? (*Late
Dragon Ball Narrator Voice*) No, probably not. But since then I’ve struggled through the somewhat juvenile opening arc of Beerus
Dragon Ball Super and mostly enjoy the rest of the show (only Master Zunō himself knows what the future holds for me).
ALWAYS).
As I fall deeper into the rabbit holes of both Super And Spark! Zero, Check out some of them My city The coverage made my time with the latter all the more enjoyable.
