Saturday Night Live apparently has a new enemy and is everyone’s favorite seasonal Halloween pop-up shop empire Ghost Halloween
NBC’s long-running comedy series premiered last week Saturday Night Live
Here’s Saturday’s full sketch in case you missed it:
I thought it would be a pretty funny dig at Spirit Halloween, a chain store I’ve already visited three times this Halloween season, even though it’s only October. But Spirit Halloween wasn’t laughing. On September 30ththe official Spirit Halloween account on Twitter posted a picture of a “SNL costume” with some insults about the show.
“We’re great at bringing things back from the dead,” Spirit posted while tagging SNL on Twitter and quote the sketch. In the picture the ghost was calling SNL an “irrelevant” show and said it contained “outdated references, unknown actors and declining ratings.”
It should be noted that it’s strange to call a show “irrelevant” when reacting to something on it recently did. In this case it actually seems very relevant. It’s also strange to mention the “outdated references” when I walk into a Spirit Halloween in 2024 and still find unsold costumes from Marvel and DC films released a decade ago.
Perhaps David S. Pumpkinsa previous one SNL Will the character played by Hanks, who famously wore a skeleton suit that you can find on Spirit, help broker peace between the two aging giants?
