turn 3 is the latest installment in Nintendo’s paint shooter franchise. In the game, players can complete a single-player campaign that allows them to explore a post-apocalyptic land called Alterna. The region is home to a few historical objects from all sorts of regions and time periods, and one of the visual themes is the Moai. While there are huge ones that you can see while exploring Alterna, you can also collect a miniature-sized one that fits comfortably in yours turn 3
This is where the joke comes in turn 3, there is a feature to decorate and customize your locker. As you explore or purchase items in the general store, you can fill it with your favorite items for other players to see online. Now players keep using the collectible Moai to decorate their locker. It’s become a recurring part, and the lockers are filled with it. Chances are if you head into the dressing room now you’ll come across one – I did when I checked.
The joke is consistent with the overall cheekiness of the Splatoon experience. The series is also known for having an online public space where you can view player profiles. In these profiles, fans often feature art that alludes to current events or ongoing memes. These asynchronous player interactions often become a way to cultivate a sense of community in the game, and so the Moai stays true to the playful nature of Splatoon.
turn 3 is now available for the Nintendo Switch.
