It takes two, the award-winning and damn good co-op game received an update today that makes it verified on Steam Deck and eliminates the need to use the EA App Launcher. However, that update also deleted old cloud saves. EA’s solution for fans who may have lost progress: download this other save file of the completed game instead.

What to do if you have lost progress in It takes two
On May 29, EA released an update on Steam with the announcement that It takes two The EA App Launcher is no longer required to play. The game is also now verified on Steam Deck.
In an attached FAQ, EA makes it clear that if you play It takes two through Steam, the game now uses Steam Cloud to save game saves. But what if you were using the EA app’s cloud saves? Well, those are gone now. And if you didn’t save your game saves to your PC, all your progress is lost in It takes two.
I expect the number of people affected by this change will be quite small. Most people probably did not rely exclusively on EA’s cloud storage to It takes twoHowever, if that’s the case, then EA’s “solution” is pretty crazy. In the FAQEA includes a link to download a completed save game for It takes two
As far as I know, EA has not given any real advance warning for this change. I have contacted EA about this and asked if they have sent any kind of warning to players that the EA app cloud saves for It takes two would suddenly stop working, but I didn’t get a response before publication.
While I’m glad to see a Steam game forego a third-party launcher, it’s a little odd that a major video game publisher would provide a save game as a solution for players who lose their saves. Better than nothing, I guess?
