In 2022 Studio Ghibli Spiritually gone will get its first live-action film adaptation.
This is the first Studio Ghibli film to receive a stage adaptation. In 2013, Studio Ghibli and Whole Hog Theater were working on one Live action Princess Mononokewhich ran at London’s New Diorama Theater.
This time the Tony and Olivier Award-winning director John Caird (Les Misérables, Nicholas Nickleby and Daddy Long Legs) will write and control the customization.
Known as Sen to Chihiro in Japan, Spiritually gone was released in 2001 and became a huge hit in Japan.
