Suzanne Collins, author of the Hunger Games series, says she will probably never write a continuation of her bestseller original trilogy that kicked the YA Dystopian trend of the 2010s. But she continues to write Prequels, who immerse yourself in the inner machinations of the world of Panem and the bloody competition, which gave them their collective title. 2020 The ballad of songbirds and snakes takes place 64 years before the main trilogy and focuses on despotic president Snow as a young man. The new book Sunrise when experiencing takes closer in the time of the original hunger Games trilogy and leaves a lot of familiar characters, including an older character from the first trilogy, which has a particularly heartbreaking past and makes her later fight against the Capitol even more powerful.
Haymitch -Abernathy, Katniss and Peetas Mentor from the first trilogy tells the events of Sunrise when experiencingWhat does it start when he's 16 years old. Collins also gives other players who are more sophisticated background stories and add new insights into their characters.
[Ed. note: This post contains minor spoilers for Sunrise on the Reaping, as well as spoilers for the other Hunger Games books.]
Sunrise when experiencing Follows Haymitch's hunger games, the annual Battle Royale-Stil competition, in which two children from Panems 12 impoverished districts are forced to fight for the death of the wealthy Capitol. Every year, a new group of 24 children is taken out of their houses and presented, forgiven and trained in combat and survival around the Capitol (in the truest sense of the word in the opening ceremony) before they are thrown into an arena in which the games do not end when all competitors are dead with the exception of the winner. Haymitch is spent on the 50th hunger Games, the second “quarter source”, where four competitors from each district are “harvested” instead.
During the training, Haymitch Ampert, a 12-year-old from District 3, who hopes to form an alliance with the tributes of less successful districts who historically have less chances of winning. At some point Ampert mentions that his father is in the training room, which Haymitch holds. As a rule, the only people who are approved in the training room are Capitol Instructors, the Hunger Games employees and the executors of the Capitol, the peace troops.
But Haymitch soon learns that Ampert's father is not a different district victor Beteee, a technological genius that has won his hunger games by electrocutating the rest of his competition.
In the main trilogy, Katniss meets Beteee in the third quarter and decides to ally with him. He played a major role in her rebellion against the Capitol, especially when it comes to the production of weapons. He makes Katniss a custom bug that she is used in everyone MockingjayThe last book in the trilogy. He is also responsible for hacking into the Capitol Broadcast system to carry out rebel propaganda.
As it turns out, the rebellious past of Betetee continues to go back to his actions in Mockingjay. In Sunrise when experiencingIt receives a special kind of sadistic punishment after he has sabotaged the Capitol's communication system.
He is too valuable to kill immediately. As with most hunger games winners, the Capitol citizens probably sat on him as a kind of microocelebrity and symbol. And his technological work in District 3 is crucial for the extravagant lifestyle of the Capitol. Instead, he is forced to watch his son Hunger Games, where he will almost certainly die a cruel death.
At the same time, President Snow Betee forces Ampert to support as a mentor and to train him for the games. This task usually falls to previous winners from a certain district, as new victims start from their district to participate. As Betee Haymith says, he even has the special “privilege” of having a stand on the training area, so he is stationed among the trainees, where he is not missed by Ampert's last moments.
Many former winners, which we play in the main books of the main hunger games, experienced tragedies and trauma, especially those who are part of the rebellion. It is a double loop: they probably rebelled because of the tragedies they experienced, and they probably had more trauma due to the consequences of rebellious attitudes or actions. Take Johanna Mason from District 7, who, after her victory of Hunger Games, resisted the attempts by President Snow to make her sexurfish so that her whole family was finally tortured and killed. And still before the details in which we learn Sunrise when experiencingWe knew that Haymitch lost his family and girlfriend through the Capitol.
At one point in the main trilogy, the protagonist Katniss Everdeen says when she and her conscript Peeta from District 12 Hunger Games are forced to never marry children because they are almost certain that the children will be involved in two winners-especially in the stars of the stars that have defined the capitol of the Capitol. Fortunately, it never gets, but Ampert and Betee's fate in this book is proof that Katniss's fear was well founded. When the worst happened, Betetee continued and fought against the Capitol.
At the end of MockingjayThe few living winners in the rebellion coordinate whether they should organize a final hunger games in which the children of the Capitol are forced to kill each other. Bedee, who had no problem with particularly controversial weapons to be used against the Capitol, is correct and that could be that his own child entered the games years ago. He gets his righteousness in the original trilogy by setting the Capitol, but Sunrise when experiencing gives us even more context for his voice and for his point of view how terrible the games were. In the original series, Betetee decides not to bend down on the level of the Capitol. The new book makes this decision appear all the more poignant. Despite all the trauma and the tragedy he endured, Betetee still holds his heart.
