What happens when the head of a major video game publisher – in this case the company behind Grand Theft Auto And Borderland—a question is asked about a PC port that pretty sure is going to happen but hasn’t been announced yet? You get a funny and confusing response from a manager who can’t say what we all already know.
Grand Theft Auto 6 starts in autumn 2025 on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Officially Rockstar Games has not yet announced a PC version
Discovered by VGC on 31 Maywhen I was recently asked, GTA6 to the PC during a interview At a conference this week, we got this funny word salad from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick:
Well, as far as I can tell, the lack of an announcement is not set in stone, because the only thing that happens after the lack of an announcement is an announcement, I suppose, or a continued lack of an announcement. I guess that could happen, too. It doesn’t seem to me that either is set in stone. But Rockstar has an approach to platforms that we’ve seen before. And they’ll make more announcements in due course. I believe that the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically this company has addressed consumers wherever they are, on whatever platform makes sense over time. OK?
You can definitely read between the lines here and conclude from this answer that, yes, of course, GTA6
But again, because the industry is obsessed with secrecy and by holding back any announcements for future events and trailers, Zelnick has to dance around the obvious. You never know when you might see the announcement of GTA6 on the PC as a means of pressure!
Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release in fall 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. And I bet there will be a PC port in 2026 or sooner, but don’t ask anyone at Rockstar or Take-Two about that now.
