There have been loads of weird and wonderful indie games to look forward to in 2020, and I’m excited to report that there is a lot more to consider in 2021.
It was exciting to look over these upcoming games. There are so many interesting, weird, and great games to look forward to in the New Year. All of the games on this list are slated to come out in 2021, with each equally ambitious to achieve their goal. Raptor Boyfriend: A High School Romance
From developer Rocket Adrift, Raptor Boyfriend: A High School Romance is ab out a shy, clumsy teenager who looked for love in the nineties. It’s a dating simulator and visual novel in which players – as the main character, Stella – make friends with a group of cryptic teenagers: a fairy, a talking velociraptor, and a Bigfoot. It’s described as a ’90s teen drama, and it looks like it. It offers everything from dramatic phone calls to meeting make-up to tapes. The art style looks amazing too.
Raptor Boyfriend: A High School Romance comes early 2021.
Saturnalia
Saturnalia is a stylish survival horror game coming to the Epic Games Store in 2021. The game takes place in Sardinia, Italy in 1989 in an old village with a creepy ritual – and people disappear every year. What stands out the most is SaturnaliaArt style. I have never seen anything like it!

nuts
nuts is a game about watching squirrels. It has a very distinct art style – it looks amazing. When the player observes these squirrels, he will “uncover the secret that the curious creatures are hiding”. Personally, I am very excited.
nuts will be released on Windows PC in 2021.
Beet boy commits tax evasion
The name says it all – Beet boy commits tax evasion. There are puzzles, harvests, battles, but above all no taxes. “Tearing down a corrupt vegetable government,” it says on the Steam site. Who is not done with it?
Beet boy commits tax evasion in 2021 on Nintendo Switch and Windows PC.
Chinatown Detective Agency
Sure, we released a huge cyberpunk video game in late 2020. But there’s more to the genre, and you can see that Chinatown Detective Agency. It takes place in a stylish, futuristic Singapore in 2032. Developed by Singapore-based developer General Interactive Co., it looks like an interesting future.
Like the others on this list it comes in 2021.
Venba
From developer Visai Games, Venba is described as a “narrative cooking game” set in Canada in the 1980s. It centers around an Indian mother with gamblers tasked with cooking and remembering lost recipes. It’s a story about “family, love, loss and more,” the developer wrote on Steam. It looks amazing.

Tony Hawk Per skater 1 + 2 held me back for a while, but the skateboard game is me Really I look forward to it SkateBird, from developer Glass Bottom Games. Birds on skateboards! Birds! On! Skateboards!
You can now wishlist the game on Steam, but it’s also coming to Nintendo Switch and other consoles.
30XX
The colorful world of 30XXlooks fast and intense, and It has a fantastic soundtrack. It looks very much Mega Man X., but according to the developer, it has the “replayability of a modern roguelike”. Co-op is also available. If you liked it 20XX, you will like this game too.
You can add it to your wishlist on Steam.
Mundaun
I was impressed with Mundauns Visuals since it was announced. The game is drawn in pencil and tells a horror story “in a dark, remote valley in the Alps”. The aesthetics are certainly enough to draw people in, but the story and gameplay make this a game to watch.
From developer Hidden Fields, Mundaun is available on Steam on the wishlist.
THE YEAR: Change
Another cyberpunk style game THE YEAR: Change comes from developer ThinkingStars and publisher Lightning Games. It has a really cool style – a mix of 2D and 3D graphics.

Dordogne
If there is a way to describe DordogneI would go under anesthesia. The game has a fantastic watercolor style that I was immediately drawn to. In the narrative adventure game, the player deals with “childhood memories” according to the Steam site. It takes place in the present and the past, but each of these worlds looks equally great.
