Rogue Games and Game Grumps collaborated on development dream dad: A dad dating simulator in 2017 – a game that seemed shallow and silly at first, but turned out to be surprisingly deep. Now the team is back with a follow-up title that looks very different couch potato
The player takes on the role of Emily who is trapped in a house full of mysterious puzzles. Things get surreal pretty quickly though. The mysteries seem to move beyond the confines of the house and into Emily’s memories and mind. According to the game’s synopsis, the player’s task is to “evade the killer, solve the puzzles, and make dialogue choices.” Both enemy AI and player dialogue options are designed to create unique experiences across multiple playthroughs.
Homebody is available “coming soon” on the Epic Games Store, Steam, and consoles. There aren’t many concrete details available in the initial announcement, but that makes sense as it seems like the narrative of the subject is intentionally opaque and twisted. The game ends in a big 180 degree pan dream dadbut it’ll be interesting to see how the team’s experience with the dating sim translates to an entirely different genre.
