Unlike other roleplaying games elden ringThe lack of a quest log requires players to really pay attention to dialogue and the world around them in order to follow certain NPC storylines. But the beginning of a quest line was so well hidden that FromSoftware took steps to ensure people were naturally drawn to it.
Boc the Seamster is easy to miss. He first appears in Limgrave, the introductory region where everyone is elden ring The adventure begins, but I didn’t encounter it at all during my ongoing 100 hour playthrough. Boc is disguised as a shrub when you first meet him and only called out at game start to overtake Tarnished as they climbed straight into his grill. In fact, he’s so well hidden that I’ve seen players get close enough to initiate Boc’s vague dialogue, search the area for the source, and eventually leave after failing to spot his stealth.
As shown in the bite-sized Illusory Wall Video above, from last month massive update The range at which Boc starts calling has been increased elden ring Player. This makes it so that adventurers sticking to landmarks can hear Boc from the nearby cobblestone road without having to venture into the surrounding grassy wilderness.

FromSoftware even added one rare purple tinted item drop nearby to tempt Tarnished to further explore the area Boc is hiding in, but it’s still up to players to figure out whether to attack or roll into Boc’s bush disguise to reveal him.
Now you’re probably wondering if Boc’s story is worth all that trouble. The answer to this question depends on what you want elden ring
Boc is introduced as an anomaly. He’s a demi-human – a species of typically vicious, ape-like creatures that you’ll likely have slaughtered in droves before you find him – but one who can think and speak like a human. When you meet Boc, he has recently been evicted from a demi-human cave on the Limgrave coast and offers to go back into the cave to secure you a reward for retrieving him from the bush. This isn’t going too well for him, but if you dare to beat the boss, you’ll find his personal sewing kit. Return it to Boc and he will become your personal tailor, personalizing your wardrobe for free.
What follows is a sad tale of Boc’s struggles with his looks and the various ways you can help him deal with his fate, for better or worse. I’ll let you experience these choices for yourself, but remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It’s been said before, but I’ll say it again: elden ring is massive. Most people won’t find all of its secrets in a single playthrough. Even if you’ve reached triple digits in your playtime, I encourage you to jump back in and see what else there is to discover, especially as the developers continue to expand the game and make changes to existing content.
