A simple new low poly online PvP military shooter that plays very similar battlefield 3 and only $15 might not seem like the next big thing. But actually it is, and after playing it for a week I can understand why: it’s just a really good shooter that focuses on gameplay and chaos.
BattleBit Remastered doesn’t look realistic. Not at all. Instead, it looks more like something made in Japan Roblox, with blocky soldiers and low-resolution textures. There are also no major seasonal updates or crossovers with popular films. There’s no cosmetic store or Battle Pass to grind. It also doesn’t feature advanced ray-tracing effects or an expensive single-player campaign starring a famous actor you might remember from that one movie.
And yet this relatively simple shooter has quickly become one of the most popular games on Steam –There are currently over 55,000 concurrent players– in large part because it is a reminder that human beings love first battlefield and similar shooters for their action and fun, not for all the other crap that has been built into so many multiplayer franchises over the years.
what is BattleBit Remastered?
Because this new indie shooter plays a lot like the older one battlefield Play games – complete with similar controls, maps and game modes BattleBit Remastered I felt like I was riding an old bike after years of being away. Within less than an hour of booting up the game, I could feel old muscle memories kicking in and had me quickly immersed in the chaotic action of the 254-player battles without getting my ass (completely) kicked by the whole thing.
How battlefield, BattleBit challenges two teams of players to conquer and hold different locations on different maps. (There are a few other modes, but this conquest-style mode is by far the most popular among players.) Players can appear as combat-oriented assault troops, medics who can heal people, snipers who… well… can shoot enemies, or as engineers who… can repair and destroy vehicles, and finally support soldiers who can provide armor to teammates while unleashing extinguishing fire from their large machine guns. There’s also a squad leader role, which is similar to an assault but offers a few additional perks, but I’m very scared of leading people in an online video game, so I avoided that class like I avoided land mines.
As you play with each class and weapon, you’ll earn XP that will help you level up and unlock new weapons and attachments. You can revive soldiers, share ammo, get into vehicles, blow up buildings with explosives and… look, you’re probably already familiar with this type of game. If you played older battlefield Games, you get all that.
why play BattleBit Remastered iInstead of EAs Battlefield 2042
You may be wondering: when BattleBit
Number one, as already mentioned, The battlefield franchise (and many other modern games) have become so bloated and tricky as games keep getting bigger, m ore expensive, and less reliable. And thank you BattleBit
The other reason I would recommend a visit BattleBit– especially if you are one battlefield or call of Duty Player – is that the game doesn’t just copy what came before. As much as BattleBit likes to play very much battlefield 3 or other games from that era, it also brings in some elements of more sim-focused shooters.
For example, you can drag fallen comrades to safer locations before healing them. The game also penalizes you for reloading before you run out, as the bullets remain in the magazine. However, you can hold down a button to have your character merge half-empty magazines into full magazines. And you can always just double-tap the reload button to instantly discard your old magazine and quickly reload a new one. Remember to take your old magazine with you if you don’t want to lose it.
It’s that mix of classic battlefield-like mayhem and fun – driving tanks through buildings etc – with a bit more Milsim elements that really got me excited BattleBit. It feels like it’s not just about offering players a reminder of the days when shooters were more fun-focused, but that it also brings in some new elements and ideas. The final result: BattleBit isn’t just a low-poly remake of something more popular. It is a successful mix of new and old ideas, classic gameplay and simplified graphics BattleBit One of the best PvP shooters I’ve played in years, even though it seems like everyone in the game is Steve’s cousin Minecraft.
If you’re tired of extraction shooters and battle royale games and are craving something more focused on gunfights, combat, and just having fun with the grind and the seasons, I’d recommend it BattleBit Remastered. It’s a very welcome palette cleaner after years of tinting battlefield Games and unforgettable multiplayer shooters. Now leave me alone, I have to play more BattleBit.
