Produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the producers of In the spider verse and writers and directors of The Lego movie, The Mitchells against the machines follows a dysfunctional family who must save the world from a legion of evil machines.
Tech-savvy aspiring filmmaker Katie Mitchell (Abbi Jacobson) looks forward to attending the college of her dreams and meeting people she resonates with. But when her old-fashioned father (Danny McBride) surprises her with a road trip to take her to school, she is less than thrilled. However, things take a dark turn when electronic devices decide it is time to take over the world and stand up against humans. Only things that bind the family!
Previously titled Connected, The Mitchells against the machines should premiere in theaters last September but has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. Netflix recorded the film in January 2021 and reverted to the movie’s original title.
