The witcher Season 2 revealed their most in-depth trailer yet, detailing the next step in Geralt and Ciri’s journey together. The trailer was unveiled by Geralt himself, Henry Cavill, on Friday during the Netflix stream WitcherCon.
Friday’s trailer kicks off near the end of season one, with Geralt and Ciri finally meeting. Geralt explains that the land of Cintra is no longer safe for her and that she must come with him to Kaer Morhen instead. Fans of the franchise will know this as a hidden castle and a stronghold of witchers. There, with the help of Geralt and his fellow witches, Ciri has to learn to defend himself and – if the story matches the original – one day become a monster hunter.
Of course, this season is likely to be more than just an expanded training montage, and the trailer sets that expectation well. While Ciri and Geralt spend a lot of time working with practice swords in the snow, the trailer also teases several action scenes with unknown attackers. Whoever attacks, they will certainly find it difficult to take on a freshly trained Ciri alongside Geralt and a group of his Witcher brothers.
Finally, the trailer ends with us entering a forest far from the witch’s castle, where Yennefer wakes up. But we’ll have to wait for the season to come to see if it reunites quickly with Geralt and Ciri.
The witcher Season 2 hits Netflix on December 17th. Details about the new season weren’t the only things Netflix and CD Projekt Red announced during WitcherCon. We also have a new trailer for the animated spin-off film, The Witcher: Wolf’s Nightmare, and news that the next-gen update of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition will also feature some new DLC content inspired by the Netflix series.
