The Nintendo 3DS was released in North America 10 years ago today

On March 27, 2011 Nintendo released the 3DS, its handheld successor to the over-successful Nintendo ds. It has since sold 70 million units worldwide and had released a variety of great games for the past decade.

I was lucky enough to snap up a 3DS at the time it launched. While console shortages were a thing in 2011 it was nothing like today

. This is what I mean: My father and I drove to a store, maybe WalmartOn a whim, about a week after the 3DS came out. We didn’t look call online or in advance. And when we got there, we found four or five 3DS consoles behind Plexiglas sitting around waiting to be bought. Can you imagine that? today? I do not see myself go to a store a week or even a month after a major console release and don’t find any until 2021.

Once I got the 3Ds, I played a lot Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D because i’m a big idiot and i love resident Evil Games. I was excited too play Revelations. The other memory I got when I started the 3DS was messing around with the AR cards and games. Not more than a couple of days but they were fun and a nice thing to show people around.

The 3DS is The last Nintendo console I bought at launch. (If this switch 4k isn’t too expensiveMaybe I’ll buy another Nintendo console on the first day. We will see..) While it is Far from my favorite console, I still vividly remember my time with it. I even liked the 3D features. I left this slider on because it looked cool.
