The aspiring monster slayer Ciri doesn't just return The Witcher 4she is the star this time. But while Geralt of Rivia's surrogate daughter will follow in his footsteps to lead her own spooky adventures, the character won't sound the same as she did back then The Witcher 3.
That's because CD Projekt Red swapped out the voice actors for the sequel. Following the release of the game's first trailer at the Game Awards 2024 last week, the studio confirmed that the character's previous portrayer, Jo Wyatt, has been replaced by Ciara Berkeley. She plays the role in the new trailer and will be Ciri's voice for the entire game and possibly all subsequent sequels.
“Ciara Berkeley has been cast in the role of Ciri The Witcher IV Cinematic Reveal Trailer,” said a CDPR spokesperson The player in a statement. “Ciara is a talented actress who impressed us with her enthusiasm and vocal abilities, and we believe she has brought Ciri to life in this trailer in a way that is both true to the character and for fans of the Series is exciting.”
Ciri, a princess with mystical blood and magical powers who became a sorcerer under the tutelage of her adoptive family, was playable at various points throughout the year The Witcher 3 as Geralt tried to track them down in the midst of an impending interdimensional apocalypse. She was still a young person throughout her journey, and the 2015 blockbuster served as a sort of coming-of-age story for her.
In The Witcher 4 Trailer, Ciri's tone is much less innocent, hopeful and enthusiastic. Now an experienced monster slayer herself, she seems hardened by the cruel world around her and the burden of constantly having to compromise on the “lesser of two evils” that the games and Polish fantasy novels are known to have to which they were adapted, compromises have to be made. Berkeley plays the role well, although I will definitely miss Wyatt.
Geralt, on the other hand, whose voice Doug Cockle embodies throughout the scene Witcher Trilogy, will return in some form with the same actor at the helm. For now, CDPR is keeping its role secret, to say the least.
