2023 was a chaotic and terrible year that was given to us against our will some excellent games. One could even argue that this year has given us something too many games! If you’ve been looking for a break to catch up on what you’ve missed, then next year doesn’t seem to offer much relief – at least not at first. Great titles like Final Fantasy VII RebirthHelldivers 2, Suicide Squad, Tekken 8, And Skull bones (and more) are all canceled at the beginning of the year.
Historically, the first two or three months of the year are not the busiest time for video game releases. Sure, you always get a few big and small games early on (e.g Elden Ring
Here are some of the games coming out in January and February:

Can 2024 keep up with the historic production of 2023?
Of all the games coming out in the next two months, this is probably the one I’m most excited about Prince of Persiathe next entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake saga, Helldivers 2and the spooky post-apocalyptic road trip game, Pacific Drive. I’m also curious to finally play Skull bones after all the delays. Will I like the game? Do I even remember playing it in October 2024? I’ll find out soon.
And if you were hoping that this avalanche of gaming might stop after February, that’s bad news. Looking ahead to March, we did it Dragon’s Dogma 2, Homeworld 3, Princess Peach ShowtimeThe Alone in the dark restart and Rise of the Ronin.
Will 2024 rival 2023 as a historic year of great gaming? I’m not sure, but if every month is as busy as these first few weeks, it could well be. Sorry to all the moneybags out there.
