This Game Boy Advance SP was the star of the Nintendo Direct

Nintendo just completed it latest direct presentationand if you are a fan of Mario and or PokemonYou ate pretty well when the show ended. What if you were someone else? You were probably disappointed. As for the rest of the showcase, Pikmin 4 had one of the longer segments. Yes, it really looked like more Pikmin. But what did I notice most? The Game Boy Advance SP that the little gremlins carried to their ship.

The Game Boy Advance SP seems to be one of them Pikmin 4s Collectible Treasures, which are large scores you can create in the series, sometimes relating to real-world tokens and items. This includes some non-Nintendo items, such as Pikmin 2

‘S “Chilling Emblem” This is actually the cap of a 7up bottle. The Game Boy Advance SP took me back to when I first got the handheld. Some Nintendo fans might forget the SP as it was an evolution of an already established device. Most of the time when I think of the Game Boy Advance, I still think of the wider purple handheld that Nintendo originally released in 2001, but the more I think about it, the more I’m sure I’ll probably spend more time with the Game Boy got Advance games on the slim, foldable version that came out in 2003.

Significantly, the Game Boy Advance SP made backlit handhelds a new standard for Nintendo. Many kids who grew up playing the original Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance tell stories of having to use the lights in the back seat of their parents’ car to play their Game Boy on the way home at night. For kids who grew up with smartphones or a Nintendo handheld post-SP, that might seem unimaginable, but we fought for our lives where we used to fight the gym leaders too Pokemon

When I got my first black Game Boy Advance SP, it felt like a total revelation. I no longer had to deal with my parents yelling at me to turn off the lights while driving, and I could run Mario levels at rest. This was the opinion of many people and ultimately also of the SP outsold the standard model by several million units. While the original Game Boy Advance might be more visually associated with this era, the SP really was the star of this generation of Nintendo handhelds. RIP to the Game Boy Micro, but we love a backlit foldable king.

Even though the Game Boy Advance era is now 20 years away, I had to chuckle when I saw the SP receive a little love Pikmin 4, because it was a turning point for Nintendo’s handhelds. The next step is to find out which kid left their priceless jewel from a video game device to the Pikmin to collect and put in their ship. They obviously don’t appreciate what they have and may deserve tiny plant people to carry it away.
