Once on it was a marionette is a small platform and puzzle game in 2.5d in a magical theater world, with a king, a queen and a prince as it should be. However, something terrible has happened: the prince of the kingdom has disappeared and, desperate, the king tries to write the perfect work to rewrite the story. This means rejecting many unfinished, decorated stories, memories, characters and assistants that ended in understanding, a mysterious world under the kingdom in which they will stop thrown objects and ideas.
The king's old tailor, snow that is nothing more than a hand, is also for the drain and the wooden doll, which had previously acted for the king. Snow and Drevon collide with each other almost accidentally and are involved in a magical thread so that they are now connected. Schneehand now controls the DREV wooden doll as a puppeteer would control his puppet in a theater, and the fearless couple now has to work as a team to find out what happened to the prince, and of course nothing that seems.
The only paste is that both are inseparable and with a magical thread that holds them together is not as easy as scissors and cutting the threads. However, the two will soon recognize that magical threads can be very useful because they acquire several new properties that combine their magical thread with new threads they find. This enables you to plan the air for a short time to throw yourself in large distances such as a large Tyrachinas or to shoot with a bow and arrow.

Once there was a puppet and the puzzle gameplay is quite “light” and easy to address. Unfortunately, the difficulty of the game results from bad decisions such as a gameplay and a technical aspect that really doesn't work. Sometimes you start with a somewhat illogical design, so it can be a little difficult to see where you have to make progress in the game. Another thing is that you can get into the corner in certain puzzles so that the puzzle cannot be completed and your last game has to be charged. It didn't happen often, but it happens and is a fairly unfortunate game design.
In addition, the controls are very inaccurate and awkward (since they are a wooden doll that is controlled by some threads), it can be difficult to calculate the distances and their position in the world of the game in Semi-3D. All of this combined makes everything a bit difficult for all these bad decisions, which is unfortunately frustrating.

What is really considered puppet games are the unique visual effects in which everything was developed as a theater world with cardboard and wood funds, and the “garbage monsters” they find on their way are quite awesome of the garbage that the sad king has thrown. The visual effects are very well done and the gameplay in a “theatrical” sense
It was once a puppet a small and cozy play of platforms and puzzles with a unique visual appearance, but with a rather mediocre gameplay that has some unique tricks in the form of the collaboration between snow and DREV. The game receives an additional note for the visual section, as it is very well done and once gives an atmosphere and a very special picture in the puppet.
If you are a big fan of platform and puzzle games, the puppetals can be an acceptable experience. For others you should probably avoid this theater adventure, even if it is unique. If you are not sure, there is a free demo in Steam that you can consult.
