Although they are rather weak, they pack a punch, and if they overpower you, you can expect to die quickly. In this guide, you’ll learn how to identify a hunter, how to make short work of them, and where to find them if you need to hunt more than a few hunters.
Hunters are fast and dangerous in groups
There are two ways to tell if it is a hunter. The easy way is to highlight the creature in question and then move the camera slightly away from it or remove the weapon from the scope. The marker displays the name of the currently marked enemy.
The other option is to simply get used to what hunters look like. Their most noticeable feature is their fins, which rise into the air when they catch wind of you nearby. As they move towards you, they resemble a hopping frog. They also make a somewhat unique sound. Granted, most beetles make clicking and gurgling noises, but the hunters have their own call that you will recognize over time.
Hunters don’t always move in a straight line. In fact, that’s kind of their thing: they like to jump from side to side and then pounce on you. They can be difficult to keep up with and they move towards you and your allies quickly, so take them out quickly.

Her attack doesn’t let up either. They can kill a Helldiver in about four hits. So if there’s more than one (which is often the case), they’ll make short work of you, but make it difficult for you to keep your gun trained on them.

Overall, hunters go down quickly if you can hit them with a single anti-material rifle shot or a good, solid shot from your main assault rifle.
Where to find hunters
Hunters are beetles and beetles are terminids. So head to almost any system under Terminid control (the orange color on the galaxy map) and you’ll likely run into them in most difficulties.
Although it doesn’t take a lot of firepower to take down a hunter, they can quickly overwhelm you when in large numbers, be it with more hunters or other insect types. Take them out quickly once they get the scent of you.
