The final form raid comes to Destiny 2, and you face off against The Witness as the capstone to what Bungie calls the Light and Darkness saga. But why is the raid released two weeks earlier than normal? The final form?
In this Destiny 2 Guide, we’ll tell you if you can play The final form raid and explain why Bungie is breaking convention with its release date.

If you are a Destiny 2 Veteran, the timeline here may be a little confused. Typically, Bungie gives players a little less than two weeks – around ten days – to complete a new expansion’s campaign and prepare for the raid. However, most raids involve a final boss that is only tangentially related to the expansion’s main boss, rather than the main antagonist itself.
Since Bungie announced The final form, the studio has clarified that The Witness will be the final boss of the raid. This is a big step for Bungie and something the developers have wanted for a long time. In a Polygon interview for Destiny 2It’s 2022 Witch Queen Extension, I spoke to Joe Blackburn, now former Destiny 2 Game Director, on whether we would ever see the big bad of an expansion in raiding again. Blackburn expressed a desire to do this at some point, but said the studio needs to get more players involved in raids first. Two and a half years later, Bungie now seems confident enough to make this move – likely due to the new in-game Fireteam Finder the studio recently added to the game.
Since the raid is such a big cog The final form‘s story, Bungie has made it clear that players won’t have to wait nearly two weeks to finish the story and play the campaign’s eighth mission, which only becomes available when players (presumably) defeat The Witness in the raid. Completing the raid also results in the release of Destiny 2is the first episode from Bungie – Bungie’s replacement for Seasons – which will appear in the game on Tuesday, June 11th.
