For Xbox, a lot depends on the big non-E3 press conference. For now, after a series of notable delays, the mega-publisher’s 2022 is bereft of major exclusives. In addition to the requisite announcements of games coming to Game Pass and announcements about more devices you can stream those games on, Xbox may actually be sharing some actual video game news.
where to see
The event begins Sunday, June 12 at 1:00 p.m. ET. You can stream them on Xbox youtube and Pull out Channels. If you prefer to see it with compressions so strong it looks like you are If you look through a kaleidoscope, it will flow on too Twitter. Bethesda will also be co-streaming on his youtube and Pull out Channels. Aaron Greenberg from Xbox said it will run for 95 minutes.
Xbox will follow the showcase with an “extended” show on Tuesday, June 14 at 1:00pm ET. This stream will not contain any new announcements, but will contain more details about the games that will be shown during the main event.
What to expect
Ahead of Thursday’s Summer Game Fest kickoff event, publishers and developers — in an act of marketing for even more marketing — openly said if their games would show up during the show; few surprises there. Many revelations during Sony’s big State of Play showcase had been rumored in advance; There are a few surprises there too. However, the Xbox event is more of a mystery.
It’s a pretty safe bet that something anythingincluding Halo infinity will appear. gloriole is Xbox Mario. And right now, the latest iteration is the multiplayer shooter, which also happens to be Microsoft’s big live service game du jour, with a regular series of updates and a slew of previously announced additions planned for future updates. Fans are also somehow convinced Banjo Kazooie Revival is on the way. Through achievements, some people discovered Xbox boss Phil Spencer Playing the Xbox 360 version of Banjo Kazooie earlier this month. (Some say it’s a character; others say he’s just playing a game he enjoys.) Yes, that’s the result of about three degrees of hearsay, but claimed one developer that something has to do with it Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter is on the way. spencer previously told my box that any revival of the series is a call out to original developer Rare, which is now an Xbox studio.
Speaking of Rare, the venerable studio has another game in the works that was only shown in screenshots and brief theatrical trailers: Always wild. Last June, after Always wild was absent from Xbox’s E3 presence, VGC reported first that the game was rebooted internally and is now targeting a 2024 release. Maybe this year’s non-E3 show is when we finally find out about their deal?
The Xbox roster has a number of other announced titles in the works. Many were teased in the process last year’s Xbox E3 Showcase In the meantime, no information has been released. A selection:
- The Outer WorldsObsidian’s first-person sci-fi RPG that feels Stand out in space, gets a sequel.
- Obsidian is also developing a first-party fantasy RPG called confesses.
- The horror game contempt, inspired by the works of HR Giger, has been postponed a number of times. It is currently slated for a wide release in October 2022 on Xbox and PC.
- The makers of just cause develop contrabanda co-op game set in the 70’s.
- Atomic Heart is a different game like the modern one Stand outs, set in an alternate timeline version of the Soviet Union where the robotics industry has proliferated. it looks crazy.
- Somerville is a limbo– like running away from aliens in the company of a dog.
- Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, GSC Game World delayed its apocalyptic shooter STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl from April 28 to December 8, 2022.
Two long-dormant Xbox series are also being revived. The Initiative, a new studio, is working on a reboot of Perfectly dark. Playground Games who just released the awesome ForzaHorizon 5 in November, has another entry in the fable Series of fantasy roleplaying games on the horizon. It is unclear whether any of these games will be shown or not. (For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t be surprised if Playground gave some details about a ForzaHorizon 5 Extension. Its predecessor, 2018 ForzaHorizon 4saw that lucky island DLC just a few months after the release of the main game.)
But the big one — Microsoft’s only first-party studio sharing title billing with Xbox — is Bethesda. Last month, Bethesda delayed its two biggest upcoming games: vampire shooters redfalldeveloped by prey Studio arcane and open world sandwich hunt RPG starfield. (my box recently reported that Bethesda is no stranger to crunch and overhaul with development Fallout 76 a painstaking process in particular.) Originally slated for a November 11, 2022 release, starfield is now scheduled for release in the first half of 2023. However, it’s been in the works for years, and to date, Bethesda has only stated…Eight full seconds of gameplay footage.
Actually you know what? Let’s be honest. We don’t see starfield playing style. Bethesda is likely to be announcing another one right now Skyrim port instead.
