Final Fantasy 14 has tons of optional content including Alliance raids, which are large 24-man dungeons. If you’ve recently gotten into the game’s main story, you might want to work on unlocking these raids.
What’s notable is that most of the gear from these raids (with the exception of the last one Endwalker Raid) is quite outdated, although many of them create good glamour. You can also get things like minions, Orchestrion Scrolls, and Triple Triad cards from these raids. (Not to mention that the story is good for any of these raid series!)
FFXIV Alliance Raids and Alliance Raid Roulette, Explained
Once you have unlocked two such raids, you will be unlocked Alliance Raid Roulette in the Duty Finder, which rewards you with lots of EXP and Poetics if you queue up for one of these raids at random.
Unlocking and completing Alliance Raids is completely optional, with the exception of the An empire reborn Alliance Raid Series, The Crystal Tower. While it was previously optional, in patch 5.3 it became a mandatory part of the story. However, if you have already completed the main scenario quest “A Time to Every Purpose”, you do not need to complete it.
That is, we list where you can unlock everything FFXIV Alliance raids below. We’ll show you where to start, but as you complete the quests you’ll need to continue talking to all the NPCs nearby blue plus sign quest marker above their heads to move forward further.
