You know how defeating the big bosses in Fire ring grants you a memory of them? Normally you’re supposed to use these to get runes to level up or spend, otherwise you can turn these memories into weapons that commemorate the boss. What if you could use them instead to ask former bosses to help you in fights?
This is the general imagination of a new Fire ring mod the igamesnews first reported what turns the sometimes devilishly difficult RPG into a completely fucked up version of Pokemon. Are you having difficulties with Shadow of the Earth Tree? Well, Dragon Lord Placidusax uses a flamethrower and it is extremely effective.
command Elden Ring: Shadow of the Earth Tree: Amazon | Best buy | Humble Bundle
Shadow of the Earth Tree features a hellish barrage of boss fights, including some of the hardest and silliest encounters in this already larger-than-life game. Anecdotally, people seem to get stuck on one of about three encounters in the DLC: the one against the giant dragon Bayle the Terriblea fight against the main opponent of the DLC Messmer the Impalerand a very special “Fuck You” battle to conclude the expansion against Promised Husband Radahn. Each of these struggles is grueling in its own way, so imagine if you could trivialize them by pitting them against each other.
The mod, which is now available on Nexus Modswas created by a user named FlippantTunic 22. Currently, you can use it to summon 11 bosses from Shadow of the Earth Tree into your game as long as you defeat them first. You may not be able to use Placidusax since he is a boss that appears in the main game, but you get nearly a dozen powerful and twisted substitutes that are likely to hit even harderThe heavyweights include Messmer and Radahn, To filland that Divine animal, dancing lion.
I don’t pretend to understand the dark magic and witchcraft that go into how the mods work, but they seem obviously tied to the main game’s use of Spirit Ashes, which act as summons that players can use in battle. Some of the bosses included in the mod are still a bit bugged, like the Golden Hippopotamus, which should be summoned in large, flat arenas to accommodate the big guy. One boss has its phases split between two different summons, but if you use HP or FP to summon them, they have access to their signature boss movesets, making them invaluable allies. Each of the 11 bosses is tied to a summon, and the list of details on each of them can be found in the mod’s description.
The exciting thing is that this now means that Fire ring Players have even more toys to play with. For example, which incarnation of Radahn wins a fight, Promised Consort or Starscourge? Think of the story-accurate confrontations we can have! We can pit Radahn in his prime (as the Promised Consort) against Malenia and have him seek revenge for inflicting Scarlet on him, which would ultimately drive him insane for the rest of his life. Personally, I can’t wait for Bayle to be added to the mod’s functionality at some point so he can seek revenge for Placidusax’s betrayal as well. My apologies, I’m clearly obsessed with Placidusax and didn’t realize it until now. He just has such a cool name.
With all that in mind, go on, Tarnished. You must catch them all and be the best there ever was if you want to bring Grace back to the Lands Between, or whatever you plan to do in the Land of Shadow.
