A woman went viral on social media after claiming she dumped one Yu-Gi-Oh Card game event due to the terrible smell of many other players.

On April 6tha person posted on X (formerly Twitter) that they were at a bar Yu-Gi-Oh Trading card tournament at a hobby shop in Japan. The poster said they encountered a woman who attended the event but she left midway through and the original poster blamed other players for being too aggressive and unwelcoming to new players. Shortly after, the post spread online, but a woman tweeted replied, claiming to be the duelist who left early. And she explained that it wasn’t due to bad player behavior or quick losing. Instead, she blamed the terrible smell coming from other players in the card shop.

As discovered by ComicBook.com, on Saturday a woman quoted the original story and claimed she was the one who left early. According to a Twitter translation, she said she left the tournament halfway through because she “couldn’t stand the smell,” adding, “It’s not that I lost or was sad.”

When another user replied that her story was “funny,” she responded and said, “Ssmelled so bad it was no laughing matter.”

Another user responded to her viral tweet, posting that the terrible smell was likely the reason for the high number of “female duelists.” Yu-Gi-Oh didn’t gain weight. In response, the woman clarified that there were some “smelly female duelists“, but claimed that the smelly men at card-playing events were often “in a class of their own.”

While some players and users argued that smelly duelists at events were a stereotype and the problem was being exaggerated, others agreed with the woman’s viral tweet and suggested that they had also left tournaments due to bad body odor.

Actually, Things got so bad in 2019Konami – the company behind it Yu-Gi-Oh-Strictly speaking has updated its official rules to combat bad odor and personal hygiene. It specifically stated that players who wear dirty clothing or are not clean could be penalized. It seems this hasn’t stopped smelly players from still attending smelly events.
